Default Need some help with my sprouts plz
My sprouts are 2 days old ( since they broke the surface ). Right now I have my 400w MH hung about 2.5 feet above them. The temp is usually within a couple of degrees of 80F and Hu varies between 35-55%. I have never done a full grow indoors before so I am unsure of how much to lower the light over the next week or so.

So for those of you with Indoor HID experience, how low should I bring the light down over what period of time?

I have the sprouts in very small 1.5" pots - when should I transplant, and should I put them directly into their final 1.6g pots or to a smaller pot first?

I have 19 sprouts. 2 of these are feminized, I was planning on a smaller germ rate and to keep about 6-7 plants to flower under a single 400w. I have to make seeds this grow, but I will attempt to selectivly seed. I also want the biggest harvest possible. Should I go for fewer, larger plants or try to do some kind of soil -based SOG and keep more of the plants?

Any help with these issues would be appreciated.

bring it down like an inch a day until it's about 18 inches away.

NOOB HERE, take my mess lightly.

IMO I would wait until the plants were few inches taller with a few sets full leaves before you concerned yourself with bringing the light in closer. You will also want to transplant to something a little larger soon.

The rest of your questions will be answered with the experience you gain growing in your space. No amount of advice on this sight is going to compare to what you learn just in trial and error My first grow was 4 bushes that begun flowering at 18 inches. My next 3 I just stuck last night in the room at 7 inches to flower. I rushed these to the flower room to prepare for a future grow.

-transplant as little as possible.
-only do an SOG if you know how, if you're just starting, only do a few large plants.

I don't transplant anymore, so I don't remember when I did mine. Sorry. As a random estimate...maybe 3-4 nodes in?
