Does it matter what bulb i by for my 400 watt mh grow lamp. I can buy the bulb for like 15 bucks but then i see some that are like 80 bucks. does it matter what i use.

i was told at my local grow store that the extra lumens in output are not worth the extra cost of the bulb. said i wouldn't hardly notice a difference. and guess what he was right and much richer cause i bought the super bulb. i now use the cheaper bulbs with just as good results.

yes but you have tolook at your ballast and read to make sure the one you is or isnt a pulse start i had great hell with my bulbs not turning on or they would turn on then when they shut off at the end of the time cycle they wouldnt strike back up.... so just read carefully and make sure all the facts add up

well its not all about lumens, its about color to, my 250 mh came with a 10,000k cheapo bulb, yes it will grow plants but not as good as a bulb with a corrected red spectrum, plants use more red light than blue thats why hps give better results
