    Default Peat Pellet Isssues

I used peat pellets to start seeds almost three weeks ago. Then planted them into pots about 8 inch. My plants grew fine for about two weeks then they stopped gaining height. They stopped gaining height at around four inches. I looked around and came across a post that says the nylon casing on the peat pellet doesn't allow the root to grow easily. So my real question is will my plants recover from this? I cut the nylon from around the peat pellet and i tried to do the least amount of damage to the root system. How long will it take to recover?

I never have any problems leaving them on. your just more likely to hurt/destroy the roots if you try to take it off. that is not the problem. how about some info on your setup and your grow to help us out.

can you get the picture any bigger or anything? its hard to see close enough to really figure out the problem.

I already took the liberty to remove the casings, trying to do as little damage to the roots as possible. I guess i'll have to wait and see. The thing is i've transplanted them twice into larger containers and they seem to do fien w/o much shock. The problem i've been having is they seem to have stoped growing height wise, but the secondary branches have started. This is my first real grow. I have four plants each in about a gallon sized container. They are around three weeks old. I have a 150W Hps and three 23W cfls in a two by two area. I had a smal problem with nut O/D, but i flushed the plants with curling leaves and they have seem to have come back. They are all Indicas except one that seems to be a cross of indica and sativa it is growing taller faster.

I recently had 3 clones in cubes, 2 of which broke through and are thriving, the 3rd however couldn't fight through and after 2 weeks of basically going nowhere I also cut apart the cube, causing some root damage (but I figured, hell, she ain't going anywhere anyway, what's to lose). I have been tending her for a week since and she is now showing signs of recovery. I would say that I expect a total of 2 weeks to recover, so it may go the same for you.

How is new growth looking since the operation? That is your real sign, as I have experienced, rather than judging on the quality of what was already there, as that is in recovery. If you are seeing healthy new growth appearing (and it will be slow, since the plant is healing) then all will probably be fine in the long run, it will just slow her for a while.

I have been misting regularly (3-4 times per day for a week) and have seen positive reactions, I'm no expert, I can assure you, but it seems to help.

Yeah, im not seeing any really scary side affects and its been more than 24 hours a little whilting, but nothing to do. I cut back the light to 18/6 so the roots can catch up. I'm ust hoping the roots will bound back. I'm already seeing some significant yellowing in the bottom leaves of one, but it has some thick growth on the top so i think its not getting enough nitro cause the yellowing starts on the bottom set of leaves and looks to be moving up slowly. I plan on cloning these in about two weeks.
Gonna put them on 12/12 to show sex before I clone.

The misting def helps alot the leaves take in some of the water and i think it stimulates the roots. Just throwing it out there.

i have to say its you, i choped this down yesterday and the 2.5 gal pot was full of roots...OK so what i notice with the pellets is that when they are small you really need to watch out for overwatering the pellets hold alot of water the soil may seem dry and you may want to water too soon use the weight method let the container get light before watering again ...rob
