how long will they keep stretching like this?? 1st week flower

hey this is a pretty standard question but this is my first time with height issues and i was wondering how long a plant will stretch for when switched to flowering. im on day 8 of 12/12 and my purple diesel have stretched ALOT, the problem here is that im using a 250w hps in a small closet and with too big of plants i wont get the light coverage i want. as im writing this i realize im not really asking anythin so.
how long will plants stretch im assuming until the buds get.... how big? and is there any way to help stop the stretching. my light is Really close already. i just had really bushy plants i lst'd the shit out of and dont want them to get too tall.

i have pics of my 2 sour diesel, bubba kush and gdp. will prolly start a journal once i see some buds so you guys will be interested

About 3-4 weeks of flower depending on strain. Start looking at pinching, supercropping and just straight tying things back to keep it under control. Scrogs work great in spaces with height issues and allows the canopy to remain fairly even. Particularly with sativa hybrids like Diesel. Plants will still get bigger after the 3/4week stretch because of the them adding height in buds.

some guy pretty much nailed this one.. all of his techniques work good for issues with height.. pick one or two, look into them, and see which ones sounds like something that you could do.. i had to supercrop my sour cream last grow, and it turned out great..
