Default Does A Carbon Filter Remove 100% Smell

Does it remove 100% of the smell, or just some. Will I be able to have a grow with a can filter, and still be able to have people come and go without noticing any suspicious odor? I did a google search, and a forum search, but did not come to any concrete answers.

My mom stopped by a few weeks ago and was in the room with Blue Cheese 4 weeks into flower for about 5 minutes and didn't notice. I am sure from childhood that she knows the smell and would have bitched at me too. My chick's parents were here for a few hours when they were a bit further along, but I don't know how familiar they are with the smell. Close to harvest I can catch a faint whiff myself if I'm in the same room.

Carbon works pretty good, but if you're like me and enjoy watching the plants frequently then the smell just works its way around the house. Gotta keep them closed up for a few hours at least to let the lingering scent dissipate.

I should add that I use home-made filters that I feel are pretty well put together, but I can only assume that a can filter from the hydro store would maybe work a bit better.

...it depends if you get the appropriate size carbon filter, and appropriate size fan. They both come in sizes of CFM's (cubic feet per minute)...this is an estimated measurement of the air it moves in a minutes time. You need to move your air 5 times per minute through each to be safe. So, if you have a hunderd sq feet to exaust, you'll want 500 cfm for both filter and fan.

Hey i was thinking of making something like this to hide the smell from my mom(who is familiar with the smell and would probably pick it up if it just reeked of skunk) , my dad knows bout it and just said to keep it from her would probably be best. We have an enclosed room in the basement where the grow would be probably under the stairs, question is, if she walked into that room would she pick it up or if i made one or two carbon filters for it would that be able to cover it enough. Another question if anyone knows, in this little enclosed room we smoke a lot of cigarettes, would the smoke being in the air all the time affect the growth of the plant? or would it be beneficial in covering the smell ( we are allowed to smoke cigarettes in the house, not buds). Thanks!!

I've heard that nicotine is very bad for your plants, so you defiantly don't want to smoke in the room with your plants.
