yeah im lookin to get alot of weed from as many plants as i can grow in a basement. right now im broke and i have flourescent lights a bunch of them, is it a good idea to grow weed with those ??

ahh flourescent lights will be fine for the veg period.. just make sure you have enough money for a High Pressure sodium light for the flowering stage.

you could buy 2 seperate lights(mh/hps), or you can just buy an hps. it will work for both veg and flower.

if your lookin for yield, its how many watts you have not how many plants

try and see. I want to know if you can produce a decent yeild with Flouros

flouros will only be good for veggin, get a MH or HPS when you go to 12/12.

so basically if i want alot of buds i need a 1000 watt metal halide light, its gonna run me around 200 dollars unless i can find a store that sells them and steal a couple. how many 1000 watt lights would i need per plant?

I added the w/sqft info in your quote to easily show what we need to look for in lighting a crop. The amount of watts that you are putting over each foot of canopy space is the easiest way to compare lighting. And we know from experience that you need at least 40w/sqft to grow decent plants to maturity.
