Default Is a Grow Tent Needed??
I am only growing 3 plants. Is it possible to just hang a light over them in and open 10' x 8' room?

I just don't see the point of spending all of the extra money on a grow tent for an auto flowering strain. I don't need to go stealth, and since it is auto flowering there is no need to block out the light for long periods through out the day.

I was thinking of getting a light fixture stand and hanging them over the plants as they sit on the floor.

Has anyone ever done this?? Cause everywhere I look, everyone is talking about these grow tents, LoL..

All the walls are white inside of the room that I am using. I was looking at a lot of professional grow rooms and they never use grow tents they just sit a bunch of plants in an open space and they seem to grow fine. Besides in nature plants don't always get 100 percent of the sun's light due to shading by other plants.

So is it worth spending an extra 150 to 200 dollars on a grow tent??

Probably not worth the extra money. You would get better light coverage, because the light will stay contained in the area. You could build some small bootleg walls out of panda plastic. Expecially if you put your light on a stand. I probably wouldn't change anything at all.

the only reason i use grow tents is so i can have 3 lightproof rooms in different stages of growth for a perpetual harvest. i can fit a 4x4 for mother plants, a 2.5x5 for vegging, and a 9.5x9.5 for flowering. allows me to make the most out of my space.

but for previous grows it never mattered. didn't have a perpetual going.

I built a box just to see if I could, and so I'd have a measure of stealth, and so I could control odor. It was fun, but I don't have much room (though with just a 400 HID and a small, personal weed requirement, I don't need much room).

Spend $60-70 and build your own. It's not that hard. I built a 2.5'x3.5'x5' room out of 3/4" pvc, visqueen (white/black plastic sheeting), and duct tape. Make it 2'x'2 and it'll likely be perfect for your goals or make it a little bigger so you can expand if you want.

Yeah I was thinking of building my own. But I did not really know how to go about it. But after seeing your picture I have an idea now. Thanks MrBlanco!! How long did it take you to do that??

Oh one more question...
What did you use the duct tape for?? Was it for the visqueen? Is that how you get it to stay in place around the frame??

Ahhh ok I see!! Why do the mother plants have to be in a different tent?? Do they require different amounts of lighting??
