Default Dutch Passion Fem. Strawberry Cough under 600w HPS
Thought I would share some pics of my girl with you all. She had a pretty rough start, but I'm happy to see here where she is today. For set up I'm using...

5 Gallon Bucket

Miracle Gro Organic Soilless mix

Fox Farm Nutes - Very heavy feeding for this strain!!

600w HPS and a few hundred extra watts coming from hanging CFLs.

I don't keep track of how many days it's been in flower. I just pull it when it looks done. I'm thinking she still has 2 weeks to go. I really hope the buds turn purple like they did on the last plant.

My buddy ran the DP strawberry cough with FF nutes...... Killer......... He used 3 gallon pots Fox Farm Ocean Farm Ocean Forest, and had 4 under a 600w. He got 2-3 ounces a plant. Nice looking bud, awesome grow.

Is it a clone from the last plant? If so then it should turn purple, I guess the environment does play factors, but the pheno is there!

Nah unfortunately it's not a clone from the last plant. I'm glad to hear your buddies turned out well. I don't think this plant will be yielding anywhere near 3 ounces, but it was also root bound for a month or so in its early life and got waaaaay stretched as well. Don't get me wrong, this plant is growing some QUALITY bud, but it just isn't as dense or as plentiful as I want. I have cuttings that are hopefully taking root, so the next round should be much much better yield wise.

I have two questions...

First, should I continue to trim off the larger fan leaves to this plant? I've heard doing so can redirect nutes and hormones to the buds which is a good thing. I realize, too, that the leaves are responsible for photosynthesis blah blah so tell me, does trimming some of the big leaves off increase yield?

Please do not give me an opinion, please say whether it does or doesn't help. If you've never tried, then I don't see how you could possibly have an answer. I want somebody who has witnessed both techniques.

Second question, does flushing with molasses water really increase yield? Seems to me like all that would do is attract a shit load of flies to my soil. Again, I'm looking for good information, so pretend I'm growing this weed for YOU so you actually give a damn if it turns out right.

Don't mean to sound like a jerky or anything, just looking for good straight advice from knowledgable people who aren't just trying to increase their post count. Thanks all!

Hey there, I don't exactly have a straight answer for you on either. I can tell you that I know a much better grower than I am who swears by flushing with sugars. Mollasses or Sweet Citrus by Botanicare. I am planning to flush with the Sweet Citrus at the end.

Hows the lower vegetation on the plant. ANy chance of a pic with the pot included

Sorry for no updates recently. It's been a busy week.

I'll have to give her some molasses and see what happens. What is sweet citrus though? I've never heard of it.

I suppose I could include a pic of the whole plant, but like I said this plant had a really bad start. Basically it was root bound in a solo cup for well over a month and then got stretched like hell.....just don't ask.

Long story short, don't think that my plants normally look this shitty. This is my ugliest so far

Oh and the other two you see in the background....experiments gone bad you could say. They are both from bagseed.

The two clones in individual solo cups are strawberry cough.

The two clones in a single bucket are white widow from a feminized dutch passion mother.

I'd have to state opinion... though its based on obvious facts. Fan leaves are good for 2 things, photosynthesis for sugar and as storage for mobile nutrients (when the plant gets low on certain nutrients, the plant takes them from the lower growth/fan leaves and puts them into the new growth). Generally, the plant doesn't run into any issues regarding a loss of sugar, so removing fan leaves doesn't do anything but force growth into the buds. Besides, most plants in nature only get about 6-8 hours of direct sunlight so if you're giving them 10 or 12 hours, they will be producing enough sugar despite a lack of fan leaves. However, it does mean you are removing some of the mobile nutrients that could be used in the growth on top if the plant isn't getting enough of them from the soil. Generally, I'd say remove any growth that isn't getting direct lighting. If all of the leaves are getting light, keep them all or at least most of them... it just means more mobile nutrients the plant has in reserves and that's more important than trying to focus a little more growth into the buds. You could always remove them anyway, and probably get more growth... however, you will risk a shortage of mobile nutrients which means slowed growth.

By the way, congrats on the DP Strawberry Cough... it's a beautiful plant (my first) and an excellent smoke. Wish I still had some seeds or clones. Mine was a bitch to clone... only 2 out of 40 worked and I tried multiple methods. I hope your clones pull through.

Thanks man! Yeah that's basically along the same lines I was thinking, so I'm just going to continue cutting off anything down low or not receiving much light. A bunch of "know-it-alls" were trying to tell me that this was never acceptable on another forum.

As for the clones, yeah man they really are a bitch. These are the first two of four that have taken. I forget how many other tries have already failed.

NOT ONE would take in rockwool. I'm sure I was over/underwatering them, but still.....it was waaaay to damn finicky.

My Cloning Method:

I finally got a 100% success rate using a method I found in a High Times. Well, 100% with the 16 cuttings I've taken so far. You'll want to find a healthy cutting 6-9 inches long. Cut it and remove all but the newest growth on top and 2-3 fan leaves. I'm using miracle gro organic soilless mix. Fill a solo cup up with dirt. Apparently you can choose whether or not you wish to drill holes in the bottom of the cup, but I do. Next I take a clean 20 oz bottle and add a little rooting hormone gel. It's in my "lights off" room at the moment so I can't tell you the brand. Anways, add 20 oz of water to a .5g-1g sized glob of rooting gel and shake well. All you have to do is stick the cutting in the dirt filled solo cup and water it with the new mixutre.

My white widow plants showed root tips out of the holes in the bottoms of their cups about 2 weeks after cutting. The strawberry cutting took about 2 1/2 weeks to show roots at the bottom of the cup.
