An is good stuff but not at all worth the price.
this is a good point most fertilizer companies use urea as their main source for nitrogen which is fine if u have soil with plenty of beneficial microbes to convert the urea to a useable source but if u dont then it wont do any good
i know that AN uses some urea sourced nitrogen but they process it to break it down into useful forms first
i think they r the only company to do that
An is good stuff but not at all worth the price.
Cutting Edge Solutions has no urea of any sort in their products.
Great stuff!
I do realize, as do most growers, that the Advanced nutrients company are growing quite a "big head" and promoting/exploiting their products to an unreasonable extent. I mean they seriously have an almost sickening sense of pride, I won't even bring up some of the silly things they've done but I will say that they also have a cheaper line of nutrients known as Jungle Juice. I'm sure everybody has heard of it, it's an exact copy of General Hydroponics' 3-part base nutrient... only cheaper and the chemicals are not outsourced, so they actually have labels which are more accurate than most hydroponic nutrient lines; each individual state requires nute companies to list/not list certain chemicals in the nutes, so if you notice- nutrient labels vary WIDELY from state to state even thought the contents are exactly the same. Anyways, the Jungle Juice, I have preached about the Juice a couple of times here in the forum but honestly, I highly recommend them. They are cheap enough to compare to generic supermarket prices and work just as well as any nutrient brand I have come across so far. I have been able to use all the nutrients I have tried so far (with success), just make sure that the fertilizer also contains micro-nutrients and adjust you pH to optimum levels, start small and work your way up. I've even had amazing results with Miracle Grow General Purpose fertilizer though I found it to have an extremely low effect on the pH of the water (bringing it down to 2 or 3.) I just thought I would bring up the Jungle Juice again and hopefully inspire somebody to try it out, it is simply awesome (and CHEAP) when you get it dialed in, for soil OR hydro. The nutrient companies spend up to millions of dollars researching their stuff (especially Advanced Nutrients), AN also makes their products specifically for cannabis, so when the plants get burned or die from the nutrients, it is most likely the lack of experience on the grower's part, not the nutrient company.

Damn, I just realized how rude that people are on RIU anymore. Since the thread was asking for nutrient/fertilizer suggestions but you can not suggest anything without being accused of being an "advanced nutrients sales rep", or whatever nutrients you'd suggest then I'd just like to say this: if you are using any (especially bigger brand-names) nutrients and your plants die or don't produce as much as you'd like- that's your fault. Period. All of these companies are putting the exact same nutrients (from various sources) into these nutes, all that changes are the ratios... therefore, if your grow doesn't come out as you had planned, then it's because you failed to use the nutrients properly. I'm assuming that anyone looking for a new nutrient company would be doing so because the one that they had used last did not give them 10 lbs. from the scraggly 1 ft. plant growing under a CFL in their closet. Get over it. If your going to do things cheap then it's going to cost you some time and money to experiment/learn through trial and error. All big guns in the cannabis industry (Advanced Nutrients, Canna, etc.) make their nutes specifically for marijuana... and they do so through scientists whom they pay extremely well to research/design nutrients for this plant. It would be my guess that these guys know a lot more about growing cannabis than the guy who comes to a thread asking for help just to bash on people who are just seeking a little advice.
If you still believe these scientists don't know as much about growing as you do, then I suggest going to school to learn what you're talking about, then you can open a nutrient company and make a better nutrient... then we will all be terribly happy to switch over to your line of nutes (and hopefully an inexperienced grower doesn't over/under feed and kill their plants or else that'd be your fault since you would have made the nutrients, right?)

Agreed. The Jungle Juice is good and cheap though and I'm not a sales rep. I use Jungle Juice from Advanced, Calmag from Botanicare, some boosters from GH and even a little SuperThrive (laugh who will, haha) and see absolutely amazing results for fairly cheap. Recently, I have even been vegging with Miracle grow with no problems at all, for an even cheaper alternative.
I hate to be a thread stealer but this is related: does anyone know of a good fertilizer for flowering that I may find locally? I live in a crappy little town with nothing more than a Kmart and a pitiful garden center so my choices are limited.. when I buy expensive nutes I have to order them on the internet, making them even more expensive and I hate waiting for the UPS man! Haha, any suggestions would be appreciated, +rep. (I have been using MG for veg, which works great, but most generic bloom "boost" fertilizers are formulated to make more bud sites, I'm looking for something with low nitrogen and not too much of a gap in the %'s of phosphorous and potassium.)

zombie thread!
BRAAAAAAAINS!
as far as finding good nutes local i cant help 2 much
u might check garden shops they seem 2 be branching into hydro more and more
one of them nearby to where i am just started carrying AN!
no hydroponics stores at all round here and they start carrying serious hydro nutes
i couldnt believe it
other than that all i can say is see if u can get a break on shipping by saving up and buying in bulk
thats what i did before
I find that just about any nutes can be used with success as long as you use those particular nutes in the best way possible for the plant...and this varies not only from bottle to bottle, but plant to plant...You just have to pick one that you are interested in using and then learn to use it.

Most of the larger companies will send you free samples if you send them an email and ask...
