first timer here . Ive heard that you CAN use them ..
I saw a light on sale (type you plug in) holds 2 tubes . 40 W each I believe.
I also bought two "Plant and aquarium" tubes.
is that the right tubes ? will it produce enough lumens ? If it will work , will it be HALF decent .. as long as its not COMPLETE shit then Im ok with it.

I think if you want to do florescent then get the right shit, get the 54 watt HO system.. they are everywhere and hold 8 bulbs and put out alot of good light.

let me tell you about this from expeiernce i have tried that the same walmart 4 foot tubes your talking about and 15 inch tubes they will work to grow have all daylight bulbs make sure they are almost pratically touching the plant and when shes about 8 inches tall then flower her but always in the veg state keep the lights on for 24/7 always and you will get a decent quarter to half ounce and remember to put the plant bulbs you bought away till flowering then have them all reds with one daylight hope the grow goes well no more than one plant

Just grow one for the time being but man you can get you 3 or 4 cfls and grow alot better plant for about 14 dollars at walmart 2 pack 7.44 but flourescent just one plant and its achievable

You could always go for the Envirolite CFL option, you can get the 200w ones and they cost beans to run, they heat up a little bit but that controllable with literally a crap extractor fan.

EDIT: And if you got one of them you could use the tube lights you bought already for side lighting, waste not...!

use them both... cfl's and flouro's. use as much as possible. dont worry about switching the lamps for flowering, all u need to do is change the sched to 12/12. the plants like the mixed spectrum better with flouro's and cfl's.

i would say atleast 2 cfls per foot of plant so start them with 4 cfls and work your way up to as many as possible i have 17 of them on 3 plants as im a diehard cfl grower 6500k i would go with the 26 watt its a replacment of the 100watt leave them on 24/7 and throw them flouros in with them and you should have good luck then when you flower kick it down to 12/12 and use 3 2700k cfl and 1 6500k those plant and aquirum lights shold cover more red and the daylight flouros should cover a little more blue during flower good luck in your grow
