Exclamation NOOB! DIY banana OG T5 CFL stealth closet grow
Hey gang! So I am fairly new to discussing green tree feeding, growing and maintaining hobby. I am here to get as much educated verifiable constructive criticism as possible on my first grow/journal. Any one who posts only to hate on CFL techniques must leave now because it's only going to make you even angrier when you find out I will opt for an LED system I have been researching numerous tests upon as well as reading my daily dose of informative specs. So don't even begin to come in and crash this CFL bash. I'm sure advocates will not tolerate it at all either. So please do us all a favor.

So now that I made the specific purpose of this thread very clear, I will Introduce myself. Call me WooKieE. Long time smoker, first time grower. Since I moved out of my old place I have discovered the most perfect place to stash a hash producing monster. or just some quality herbs. I have a 3.5x3x5' Closet that I have transformed into a stealth sun room. It includes a 4 lamp T5 fixture; Each bulb spec is a 6500k 54 watt which creates 5000 lumen for a total of 20,000(possibly). I also have a 200 watt incandescent replacement CFL that uses only 42 watts of energy. It emits 2800 lum. And last but not least, I have four single retro fit T5 strips that are 28 watts each bulb. These bulbs I will use further into my grow and will illuminate 2700 lum. at 3000k. I plan on using those for the flowering stage for further side lighting since they are only warm to the touch. it gives me a grand total of 33,600 useable light spectrums. I forget the amount of lumen being distributed per sq. ft. But I remember it being more than enough.

The technique I chose to incorporate into my grow site for feeding my plant is a fusion of aero/bubble/fogponics that will allow my plant to emerge at the maximum rate for its light enviroment. I have a black 5 gallon resivoir, airpump, 280gph waterpump and a nerbulator aka fogger/mister. Its median is a washed clay pebble known as hydroton. And for my nutrients I have purchased a recipe for success sample package created by Technaflora. very inexpensive and wonderful first choice for any newb that wants to start growing immediately.

I purchased a clone from a collective in Los Angeles and chose a banana OG clone for my first grow. It was extremely healthy when I brought her home and transplant went smooth on 10/07/09. The next day after I returned from work I decided to see how my baby was holding up and to my horror I saw burned leaves beginning to curl on many top leaves that I had put waaay too close to the 42w CFL. I quickly adjusted and noticed some stunted growth due to shock but since then I have experienced recovery and rapid rooth development. Some leaves are still charred and will not regenerate. And I've learned to live with it for now since I am experiencing new growth already. So I am not very worried.
Youtube link that will allow you to see in greater detail about this entire explanation.
If anyone can help me out on how to deal with these crispy leaves it would be greatly appreciated. and as I mentioned before, all advocates are welcome to present their facts/opinions on how I should go about my growing procedures. As for all, Peace to the stronghold!

what you can do is give it some nitrogen and cut off those dead burned leaves.

That batch looks wicked from some CFL's holmes! What sort of CFL did you use? I am about to pick up some green pads I ordered that emit Co2 which should help speed up the growth, but you should see this thing rise above bro. How many months did it take you for your babies to finish?

Yah, I scoped out your thread after I wrote the post and noticed that you were using a bunch of splitters for the bulb outlet. It frightens me since I think that they may combust into flames if there were ever a surge. Plus you had the OG's veggin' for 24 hrs. a day. you definitely had rapid growth within weeks of transplant. But I'm not able to afford that since there was already a 20 dollar difference in my landlords bill. I just told em I would turn off my fan I had running all day to circulate air in my room... so at the 2nd week of veg it seems half the size it is compared to your 3rd week veg photo. I hope you can stick around to help me out throughout this thread. Peace holmes!
