Dumb question, but what is a cool tube?

I love my cool tube. Mine doesn't have the big gull wing reflector like this one, so its very space conservative.

I love mine, even though it is "junk" lol...It's all good I like mine a bunch and it definitely cuts down on heat, you can get those lights right on top of your canopy...real close!!

i've got my 400w mh 10-11 inches from canopy with nothing but a fan blowing in the room, and i feel like i could even move it closer, as it's not very warm on my hand when i test it under the light, so i can only imagine that you could get the light right up on the canopy, just a few inches a way i bet, with a cool tube. the closer the light, the more lumens the plant gets.

I'm about 4 inches away( 600 watt ), I also have a fan blowing. The only thing is when you keep the light that low like I do you need to check on the light height quite a bit to avoid the crispy plant...lol.

I had one for about a week during this time my room was a disaster so I can not give a fair review of the product. I think if you search google and wait a little long for replies the general opinion is without a reflector you are not taking advantage of the HID the least. The reviews I have read about the product say the throw pattern with a reflector is not as good as other enclosed reflectors.

As the poster above stated with an enclosed reflector and a little knowledge about radiant heat vs room temps you could grow almost right up to the light.

I am running my 400w roughly 2 inches from the plants.
