Default Thinking about switching from hydro to soil (indoors)... Pros/Cons, help?
I am thinking about switching to a soil grow medium instead of a ebb-n-flow hydro system I had. Some friends of mine are telling me that the growth time will be longer, the buds wont taste as well, and that it just generally isnt as good and productive as hydro. Is any of this sound true to anybody? Are there other things I need to know before making the switch?
The reason for the switch- bought a 6.5 x 6.5 x 6.5 grow tent, and the grow table will be to high, while the light to low. If anyone has any ideas or any information that could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

i whould'nt make the switch, i switched from coco to hydro ebb and flow and i'll

NEVER go back..lol..they just grow alot faster in dro not only that but u have total

control over every thing : PH , PPM..any nute probs can be fix ASAP. also alot less

work in it , at times i can leave for a few days and they be fine..if your have hight

probs try sitting the tray on top of the rez ( dont use the stand) i hook the lights

right on to the pole that goes across the top so theres maybe a inch in between

them..or flower your plant right after they root..got any pics?

Dude chop those fuckin table legs down. Why make urself suffer over a foot?.
Pros: better taste and more time to catch and correct problems should they occur ( for ex. If u fk ur ph up in hydro u know almost instantly whereas soil u have a few days to correct before the plants too far gone
Cons: longer wait, hand watering and lifting pots (no thank you). Less control over many things as far as the root zone, not being able to see the root zone, lower yields (generally not always true) and above all I've never had bugs infest my water but I couldn't keep them away from my soil. Plus would u rather an inch a day or an inch an hour? Lol I'd stay where ur at and make the neccesary adjustments otherwise ull likey wast 3-6 months and come crawlin back to hydro... I hope I didn't discourage u

In six by six room you can try both and see how it rolls. I do my soil with the pots that you can roll up and use aurora soil with coco croutons and vermi t organic media. Very fluff and drains great with a drip set up. You can grow soil without loading buckets of water. Like a drip system with a small res and some pumps, timers etc... With a fluffy soil and really good compost its almost between most soil set ups and some hydro. I do have to run the drip system twice a day with the soil mix. Im running a 400w in a small grow closet with 8 babies in 1.5 gallons. temps at 75. My yeilds with a super hortilux hps is usually .75 grams per watt with this air cooled set up and home made co2 bucket. Try both, you have tooooo

Oh its not an uninformed post I have 30+ years of soil under the belt. I have done a drip with a fluffy medium and the as well I tried aero and ebb no technique I've ever seen or used has had the ease of operation the peace of mind or the vigorous growth as I've gotten with bubbleponics... However ebb falls very close behind in my book but soil is the bottom of the barrel imo. UNLESS I'm growing ru paul "aka rick james" or bubblegum... Just can't touch the flavor of organic soil grows.
