Hey guys i plan to grow 2 mature marijuana plants in my cabinet/entertainment system thing. I plan to purchase a 4 inch inline fan with a connecting 12 inch long GrowBright carbon filter to be kept on at all times. Would this be enough to keep my single apartment odor free? (plant strain pungency is medium to medium well)

If you are talking about an actual inline fan then yes it would work. If you are talking about a duct booster fan then no. What lights are you doing, and are they going to be vented seperatly? I am just wanting to figure out how much heat you will be producing. Because you can easily roast your plants in there.

I have a closest about the same size as lownskater52. I use a 4" inline duct fan for venting out the top to outdoors, and a small computer fan near the bottom to push cooler air in. Seems to work good with a small light (150w HPS). The bigger the light the more heat.....

OrganicOzarks, I plan to order a Floralux 150 watt hps with an AgroMax bulb from from HTGSupply next week. It has a built in ballast but it does come with a protective glass safety lens so i will be able to maintain heat and distance pretty good.
How is the noise with one of those fans? I live in an apt so sound is key. Cabinet doors closed, would you hear it? |

If you can vent outside in a high spot of the building it works best. Too low and everybody will know your business. HTGsupply.com has a # of fans for reasonable prices. Sounds like timmythetooth has a similar set up as you.

I have my fan wrapped in insulation. I also use insulted ducting, and with the door closed it sounds like a very small fan in a closet. So far no one has noticed. Also I have insulated my walls, and door along with over using door gaskets to seal light and sound. I have had plenty of people walk by, and no one has a clue that there is a 600 w hps in there. You should be fine with that ligth setup, and the fan, If you need to dial down the speed you can use a speed controller ($30). I run my 400 cfm fan at only about a 1/3 of what it can do and my area stays between 70 to about 83 on a warm day.

well you guys have def been helpful
Ozarks- Was thinking about insulating my cab sorta like yours. I was planning to buy insulation board (with a reflective mylar side) and add another layer to the inside of the cabinet. Which brings me to light leaks. What are door gaskets? do you have a link to one? I was planning to use weather stripping to lightproof the doors. Need some help on this |
