Default another cfl thread.....
so i was thinking of adding some cfl bulbs to a new box I am making for 2 plants on a dwc system. seems like for flowering bulbs i may go with these. would they be suitable for flowering a plant? i was told i needed the "daylight" type i am hoping to be able to save space by buying the ones with reflectors are already on em. i am hoping to put 3 of these and 2 additional lights in the box. the other 2 lights are 2ft under cabinet lights that have plant/aquarium bulbs (3000k).

Reflectors R20, R30
Bulb Type- Reflector
Manufacturer- Bulbrite
Wattage- 15, 18
Base- E26/Standard
Glass- Frosted
Average Life- 8000 hours
Voltage- 120
Price- R20= $8.15 each, R30= $9.80 each
Select Bulb: CF15R20 $8.15CF18R30 $9.80Select Color: Warm WhiteDaylight

No that wouldnt work man. No way is that thing powerful enough. And to flower you need warm white bulbs.

if you have 3 of these bulbs in there your only pulling 60w @20w a peice. the bulb wattage probably said something like 20watt cfl equivalent to a regular 100watt bulb . what light temperature is the bulb? you wanna be closer to the 4k-6k for growing the plant in vegetative stage but for flowering you want a 1500k-2700k. I have found that plant and aquarium lights(3000k) do very well in the aid of flowering small plants along with cfls.

also to let you know if lights are adequate for growing we really need to know the measurements of the box.

My mistake on the color temp, but 18 watts isnt enough for flowering, I have 6, 26 watt(100w eq) CFLs in my small flowering chamber and thats just barely getting by IMO.

The grow box measurements are roughly 3ft high by 1.5 ft wide.

Theres a pic of the inside of it below but the lights are situated different now (they all hang over the plants). Plus instead of two there are three CFL's now
