hi, i'm growing for the first time and i have my seeds already showing leaves, growing, etc. they are in the hydro unit, but i cannot figure out what the problem is with my lights. neither my metal halide nor my high pressure sodium bulb seems to be working. i have the correct ballast and fixture; both worked less than a month ago when i tested them out. i'm stumped! i guess maybe they both broke somehow? if anyone has a suggestion it would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

troubleshoot it dude. go buy another bulb. or take a pic of the bulbs and post them on here and we'll see if we can notice anything broken. either your ballast is busted or you broke both your bulbs...i'm betting u didn't break both bulbs...

Might sound silly, but are the bulbs screwed in all the way? Sometimes you may think the bulb is fully seated when it's not. Is the ballast making any noise when pluged in?

b/c i'd hate to tell a guy he burnt up an expensive ballast. i'd rather buy a bulb than a new ballast any day.

Leave your seeds under the sunlight. people wont notice they look like beans at that age abyways

I'm trying to make sense of this. Doesn't make any sense? Maybe he did burn up that ballast. That doesn't mean he should go out and buy more bulbs when he will need that money for a new ballast.

troubleshooting. i'd try a new bulb in it b/c it's cheaper than buying a new ballast. i also suggested he take pictures of his bulbs...why are u busting my balls so bad on this MajorToke? anyway...Arch, maybe take your ballast up to a hardware store and see if they'll let u try another bulb. That'd be a GREAT thing to do. better advice?

i'll take the bulbs to a place and see if they work in one of their ballasts/fixtures but...does it matter which direction the fixture is facing? like if the bulb is hanging like a normal lightbulb and not sideways, might it not work for that reason? i also know it takes a while for the bulbs to come on, but i definitely waited forever before giving up on them...fuck
