Hello all.... work doesnt permit me to be around too much lately, but here's whats been goin on.. my ballast went out, so this grow got trashed.... rather than get the same ballast again, i opted to buy a new lumatek dimmable ballast.

I understand that they are supposed to be the best brand on the market... who else runs lumatek?? what do you think about their products??? anything i should know?

I have a lumatek 400W digital. I like it due to the smaller size, nice heat dissipating case, and how much cooler it is compared to my 400W transformer ballast. Not to mention you can run MH or HPS off it.

That said, mine died 6 months in use. The place I got it from worked on my behalf to RMA exchange it, even though I was past their 30 return window. I could of went to lumatek direct, but chose my dealer as that is where I got it from.

You can't beat the 3 year warranty on them. My replacement is due Thursday (about 2 1/2 weeks turn around).

I chalk up my bad unit as simple bad luck. I am sticking with the lumatek and expect to buy another one so I can keep my HPS transformer ballast as a backup. In fact it was next to the transformer ballast when it went bad so I am thinking the heat from the transformer may of gotten onto the lumatek. I will keep them spaced apart from now on.

I was very happy with the ballast and with my dealer who acted as the middle man with lumatek to get it exchanged.

well, no bad reviews thus far... definitely a good sign... i just wish the damn thing would be here already

Same here Flip flopping the cords of two reflectors on one working ballast during lights on is getting old.

yea i have done my reading and peoples either work great or die pretty quick im going with a nextgen made by cap cus it runs 400 and 600s and same warrenty and my local dealer said cap wont even ask any questions just exchange ur ballast i heard some peeps fighting with lumatek

got the damn thing and it doesnt appear to work.... i give up, i'm absolutely of this.

i have a dimmable lumatek, the orange one to be exact i forget what brand as my growing equipment is put away atm but ya they are by far the best ballast i ever owned

does it make any noise whatsoever? I think this damn thing is faulty.... not much between the ballast and bulb that can go wrong

ya mine makes noise, no more noise than a regular ballasts makes though...
