Just got the Lumatek dimmable 1000 and must say it's AWESOME!!! I don't know about the Hort bulb but fires up my GE. Best thing, I used it today at 600w to keep the heat down in the grow room and it worked great! I need this for those occassional hot days when a 1000 is too hot (no AC). In case you don't know, the settings are 1100w, 1000w, 750w (I think HPS only), and 600w. I even love the color, dayglo purple! Didn't get any hotter than the Galaxy it's replacing and it's a little shorter too (but taller, kind of rounded on top).

wasnt trying to be too defensive, but I just hate the attitude that alot of "serious" growers seem to have.... that if you dont sink a ton of money into it, or dont have the means, then you shouldnt be growing..... seemed like you were coming across with that attitude... no hard feelings bro

yeah, I'm pretty anxious to play with mine now... gotta do some cleaning first though.... my grow has been out of commission for about 2 months now... everything is in disarray.... tomorrow we plant seeds, clean up, and hook the light and fans back up.... gonna be a good weekend

ive got a 400w on its 3rd month now and all is fine. As for bulbs - you have to start switching to the ones made especially for electronic ballasts. they run you an extra 20-30$ but the life/lumens or whatever are supposed to be better than using the ones that are made for the mechanical ones.

but im no serious grower... so i dont know shit. just my thoughts.

Now that I think about it, my local grow shop recommended the 600w eye for my lumatek 600w. I am sure they have tested it, so I think in general they should be fine.

I think it should be but my hydro shop said stick with the bulbs specially made for electronic ballasts. I have a dual spectrum or whatever its called at 34k and its doing great.
