I'm thinking about buying a 400w hps to get me through the winter, but I don't know exactly the setup I need. I am considering getting the stealth hydro 400w combo.

But I don't know which setup will be more successful, hydro or soil. Which one will produce plants with more buds? That's what I'm looking for. I know this is a constant debate of growers, but some people just want a constant harvest. But I just want one good harvest of about 8 oz. for the winter.

I'm talking about 4-6 female plants.

Do you have your set up yet? If not check out Sunlight Sheds Hydroponics Systems for some stealth hydro grow cabinets. They come with everything you need but the seeds and water. I am using the Cool Cab with and have had 1 harvest so far. I thought it was great for my first time. The buds could have been thicker but I had some ph problems int he begining of flower so I think the messed them up a bit. I am on to grow 2 now and I know this one will be even better cause you learn from errors and such, made some modifications. I kept a log each grow so I can go back to check details and such too.

DWC is the easys to grow with.Fast growth and less work and alot of bud.You can grow trees in them buckets.You can make them too.Just a couple of air stones and air pump,net pot hydroton and nutr and are on your way.You can get 4 oz off one plant.Hydro is faster than soil.soil will take 5 or 6 weeks longer.I like hydro but still grow in soil too.I like this hobby. Sounds like hydro is the way to go, but I might just buy the light first and build my own growbox. From there I can grow soil or hydro. That cool cab looks like an awesome investment, but I don't have that kind of change at the moment. I'll just get the light and hope I make enough $ and have enough time to get my setup done by november.

You could probably make your own cool cab or grow box for under $100. All you need to get is at a store like Home Depot or reno store. You would need the silver insulated sheeting for inside, top to bottom, duct tube and tape for exhaust fan, which you also get there (bathroom exhaust fan, cheap), You may be able to find intake fans there too.

yep, sounds good. I'll have access to the metal shop at school aswell, so that will help a little. I'll be able to make the perfect dimensions for what I need.
