Question Temp/Airflow and Lighting Spectrum Question
Hello all, I am kinda stumped as far as this one goes...

I recently purchased (4) 57w 2700k bulbs from an online store, with 4 (4-pin plug in base) to go with 'em...however, I have found little info about wiring them. I am using these guys as supplemental lighting so I have to wire them separately than my main lamps and want them to receive max output. Also, my main lamps are 2 105w daylight bulbs, to be supplemented with around 200w of red, altogether about 400w of mixed spectrum lighting with a home-made sheet metal reflector. I have (1) 2700k 105w bulb as well to be switched with one of the blue spectrum lamps for flowering. So during veg, about 400w of equal spectrum, and during flower about 300w of red and 100w of blue. Any opinions for improvement?

Also, my current set up in about a 2.5''x3.5'' dresser, with 2 -- 90mm exaust fans up top and a 120mm intake about halfway up the backside. I have another fan I could use... My temps are averaging around 86.5 with the lights on, would you recommend another exhaust fan or intake? Or any ideas how to bring down temp? Feel free to PM me or post back on the threAD.

Any help would be really appreciated as I am well on my way to getting my first op up and running. Very stoked about it, and have learned a lot from you guys on these forums. Thanks again.

thanks for the input man, I wanted to try and get it down to something with a little more manageable in case of a heat spike, I've been reading a lot of people recommend only exhaust as it creates a vacuum effect. However I'd like to keep the ladies cool with some fresh air so I'm kinda on the fence about this.

I shoot for 70/30 2700/6500 in flower so you are about right. Heat is a bitch. Sometimes all the circulation in the world doesn't do it and you just need more AC in the room. I have a portable AC that vents with a hose through a window for emergencies. It brings temps down pronto.

sick man, i will have to figure out a way to bring the temps down. I have another computer fan at my disposal but I might need something a bit more hardcore, space is definitely an issue though. by the way illegal, your avatar made me burst out laughing haha

In my grow box I am building (check my sig) I am using 6-120mm fans to create a vaccum. to properly exhaust a large space like what you have I would double the amount of 90mm fans. your intake is ok. It may not push more air if you install another two 90mm fans, but the new fans will just suck more air through that hole.

hey stealth, thanks for the heads up man. The other fan I have at my disposal is a 120mm guy...so maybe i'll just toss him up with the 90mm's. I was thinking intake might be helpful to keep the air on the ladies but what you said does make sense, it's not so much about getting air in the box, as it is about getting the hot air out. I'll prolly end up tossing the 120 guy up top and purchasing another one for intake if it exhaust doesn't cut it.

correct me if im wrong, but i think a good way to bring temp down is to just fill a cooler with lots of Ice and let it sit in the room with a fan behind it..... Ive heard from various people this helps bring temp down... not going to drop it 10 degrees, but itll help...

well i'm rockin on avg around 77 degress during the day with the lights off, and 85.5 with them on. still waiting to find out my temps when the lights are on and off at night (which i assume should be lower cause it's cooler outside). Maybe i'll just try and leave more doors and windows open. so maybe the heat issue won't be too big of a problem...on a very unrelated note, i've heard that using co2 is almost rendered useless in a room that isn't airtight, i was planning on doing a cheap yeast/sugar water co2 unit, but am rethinking it because my box has intake and exhaust fans...any opinions on co2 in a non-airtight room? is it worth investing in?
