no it would work,and if you did need more room you have it.depending on how long you veg and to what height,you might not even need 12" pots

Hmmmm. Food for thought. I figured I'd grow maybe 4-5 footers, but I am new to this, too.

Maybe a question would be how tall I should grow with the goal of 8oz/plant? I will be growing some Fat Bastard seeds I got from a friend, a few Coco Train (Coco Thai and Trainwreck X and a Sativa/Indica x called Shag. I have some feminized White Widows that I am saving for my second grow.

you have to remember that it will be tough for a 600 watter to penetrate the bottom couple of feet of a 5 footer.but im sure it can be done but maybe only 4 plants but you still get your 8 oz

Whoa, are you saying that a 600W lamp will only grow four plants at 5'? Okay, here's the obvious question, then. How tall would one be able to grow 12 plants spaced one foot sqaure with a 600W bulb and about how much yield for plants of whatever size that would be? Perhaps I need to be looking at three grows/year.

you can get 8 oz from 600 watts,you can get 8 oz from four plants you could get 8 oz fron 12 plants.all with the 600 just have to do it differant ways thats all,it depends how you want to do it.

if you want to grow 12 plants veg them untill about 12" then flower them,they should reach just under three feet at harvest.you have to remember about half the vegged plants will be male.

Yes, I was debating growing about 24 or so plants and winding up with 1 or so femininnas. Just figuring the best method without too much transplanting.

Does anyone do anything like growing 2-3 plants per pot in a system like this, then culling to one, knowing that one or two mihgt have to be transplanted if a pot had 3 males?

its all been done.just read the journals and the faq,any you will see 30 ways to get the same end result,it will depend on what you enjoy most.

whoa, slow down a little. let an old man catch up. 5' of plant height, with a 600 watt light, 3 gallon pots, will give you more than 1/2oz per plant. A lot of folks don't have that height available. The yield off that table I posted was just under 500grams from 20 plants and I only have four feet of available height cause I built the table higher so I didn't have to bend over so much. That was using hermie seeds, hey it was an experiment, which will not be repeated.lol If you have a good hydro shop in your area visit them, look around, ask some questions. with a good ec meter its not that difficult. Soil will work fine, it just takes up more room. VV

what is your goal ?
a 400 grams per plant or 15 grams?
You could divide the room in half one for SOG , the other for big old plants
