I was arguing with a friend the other day about how long it takes to grow in soil vs. Hydro. We were unable to reach an answer. So, I'm just wondering, on average, how much longer does it take to grow in soil than hydro? Given that the plants have enough light, nutes, ect. and are in autofeeding potting soil. Could you guys help me out on this one please?

hydro has a faster grow rate....if you are able to get a hydro setup go with that...i did my first grow in soil and i will never do it again...there are many different kind of hydro setups what kind are you thinking about useing?

you may shave off a week or two of flowering with hydro. and about as long shaved from veg, as long as your system is operating at optimum levels

The downside to using hydro is you don't get the microbe activity as you do with a soil medium. In optimum conditions, hydro will get your plant finished maybe a week earlier. Put side by side, planted at the same time, a hydro plant will have many many more main stalks than one grown in soil at the same time. This is from the availability of nutes to the plant at all times because of the constant flow of water. Even in soil, the plant needs water to absorb the nutrients from the medium.

TLDR, apples and oranges
Each has it's own benefits, hydro gets you a little more yield faster but organic buds grown in good black soil can't be touched in quality.

better flavor and aroma are more easily obtained with soil and more organic nutrients. for me, better pot is worth the wait

I really have no idea. I usually grow outdoors, so hydro is pretty foreign to me.

Thanks everyone. You've given me a lot to consider. I have heard that growing in soil gives better taste and quality. I think if I do grow again, I will be using soil. You know, K.I.S.S., ( keep it simple stupid, or in my case keep it stupid simple).
