Default force flower early
My first post ever anywhere... So while waiting for my wonderful outdoor crop to finish i decided to try and grow some up real quick like indoors. I have heard many bad things about forcing plants to flower early, but from what i can see these little ones are doing fine. As soon as they came out of the dirt i hit them with 24 hours of light from 4 40 watt HO flourecent lights for about two weeks. I am now almost on my second week of 12/12 under a 400 watt HPS they showed sex and i lost one out of three. i was just looking for a little feedback from anyone familiar with forcing plants to flower early. tips, hints what have you, anything would be much apreciated. the attached pics are one right before changing light cycle and two about a week into 12/12.

umm, when you grow indoors you decide when to make your plants flower, i mean, there is an entire thought in motion of people that force 12/12 right from seeds, i really dont know what you are talking about though.

could you possibly direct me to that thought in motion...? i have heard that forcing plants to flower before they are ready could cause problems, and i was merely looking for some aid or knowledge in that specific area and as u say that knowledge does exist here somewhere... now where to find it?

even seeds started on 12/12 will veg for a few or several weeks before they begin to flower. you wouldn't count your flowering period until the plants actually start to flower. ie, if you had a 8 week strain and you force flower before the plants are mature, the time that it takes for the plants to mature is subtracted from the total length of time in flower. so if you start seeds in the flower room and they don't begin to flower for 4 weeks, and finish at 14 weeks, the plants are 10 weekers, not 14.

make sense?

i was pretty much under the impression that in some form or another you are always deciding when your plants flower when gorwn indoor...? I mean i veg 2 weeks and flip it to a 12/12 and in a week or so i have bud sites popping up. Is that what you are talking about?

that's what i'm talking about. mature plants will begin to flower in the first night cycle. these plants will have preflowers. plants with no preflowers are not mature, and will need to mature before they begin to flower. this is accelerated by lighting cycle, but they still veg in the flower room until they are mature.

usually when i try to guess my harvest day i always allow two weeks for transition into the flower stage, but this plant triggered a little faster than most my other plants have before... thanks for the feed back
