Hi,
I'm planning on running 2 x 600 Watt Cool Tube lights in my grow, which I plan to connect up in the following manor... --->---[Intake]--->---[Fan]--->---[Light]--->---[Light]--->---[Carbon Filter]--->--- So the fan draws in cool air from outside or air from the grow room and pushes it over my lights then finally out through my filter which will be expelled though a slightly open window. But.... 1. How much of the heat will the carbon filter remove, if any? 2. If the filter doesn't remove heat or enough heat, how can I cool the exhaust before venting to the outside world? 3. Would the filter muffle the whoosing of air being expelled enough? 4. Would the intake being pulled in from outside make any sound like whoosing as the fan pulls in clean cool air? 5. Whats the best way to filter air being drawn in from outside through a fan and ducting?? Hope anyone can help

Wouldnt bother filtering the air from your lights... wont remove heat... I recomend one of those portable air conditioners if you can splurge.
Build a box with foam coverings as a muffler for fan sound |

I use the cool tubes too, but this is how I do it,
Carbon filter--- fan---tube---tube---tube--- out through my furnace exhaust, I also have a fresh air intake, but on my fan I put a switch to control how powerful the suction is. Seems to work fine and the heat from the lights gets camoflauge by the furnace heat. |

Hmmm thanks guys,
Back to the drawing board then. The grow is planned for a small out building made from concrete. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can use to disguise the heat exhaust. Since the eye in the sky is looking out for heat spots and exhausts, I need to cool the exhaust before it's expelled some how. How would I use the airconditioner to cool the heat Matt? Could I feed the lighting exhaust into the air conditioner? Surely that would cook the aircon? Any ideas welcomed as I need to get this right first time. Here in the UK the rozzers knock on your door at the slightest hint of anything out of place where heat spots and heat exhausts are concerned. Would I be right in my calculations here: 2 x 600 Watt HPS = 1.2 Kilowatt-hour = 4094 BTU's ??? Jesus, that's about the same BTU's as my bathroom radiatior gives out ![]() Many thanks. maybe dump your exhaust underground somehow, because underground stays a cooler temperature and might cool the exhaust enough. Maybe bury like a trashcan or something, dump all the exhaust into it, and then on the bottom of the trashcan have a vent hose that goes to the surface somewhere less obvious? idk just a thought but underground definitely can cool off air pretty easily
