| | Should you trim Shade leafs? | | I have seen people trim there leaf's all the way down to the buds durring mid flower, and I have heard people say that is a bad idea to stress the plant, and take away it's storage food for later...What's up? Anyone want to throw in there two cents on this? |

| | Well, you can do that ... if you want a lower yield.

| | i HAVE HEARD THAT YOU SHOULD ONLY PRUNE FAN LEAVES THAT ARE COVERING CHOICE BUDS DURING FLOWERING OTHER THAN THAT THEY NEED AS MANY AS POSSIBLE TO GET JUICY. i AM NO PRO BUT i CHOSE TO PRUNE ABOUT TWO DAYS BEFORE I FLOWERED TO MAKE SURE I HAD GOOD AIR FLOW AND LIGHT PENETRATION. |

| | So if the shade leafs feed the plant, then why trim the leaves at all? Does direct light onto the buds actually make buds grow quicker, or with out these "solar panels" does it impair growth...Hmmm I think that there will always be a debate on this one.. Abud, Jonny, do you wish to elaborate on this one? |

| | Hey chris, I can only comment on my own experiences as I was quoting someone else.
In my exp., I would only take fan leaves before your preflowers show.
After that, you risk bud growth.
I would, however, like to see what someone else says about it. |

| | I cut all leafs that grow inwards towards the main steam and block lots of new bud sites try and keep your higher fan leafs
Less is best when doing this if u cut to much u cant go back just do it bit by bit
it improves my yeild i think i also cut the 1/4 of my plants its just wasting energy on them silly buds at the bottem instead off the main big buds ive and if u have a few plants all close togeather the get no light anyway i just learnt the term for this is lolly poppin tho ive been doing it a while
the groth of your plants will slow down for a few days but once it recovers it will look better than ever with nice big fat buds

| | I would never prune in flower. For me, the only pruning that goes on is done in veg. If you really feal that the fan leaves are blocking bud sites from getting light, tie them back instead of chopping them off. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
