Hey everyone this is attempt two @cfl ..my previous babies didnt make the trip to the promised land ...anyway im on day 3 and i germ'd the little ones using the paper towel method.

DAY 1

I left them in the paper towel untill they were tall enuff to be out of the dirt (i know ..too long) anyway i put them in jiffy peat pellets. Can see 1 set of bladed leaves. Then i placed them in a "Humid Dome" under 24/0 with 2 23w 2700 cfl..

Day 2
Plants are getting some green to em(were yellowish)
The stems look light purplish..I placed them outside for a few hours with the top off. After being outside they
seemed to have reached top of "dome"
The top is removed and i place them under the light.

Day3
The plants have really opened up over night..hoewever the stems are dark purple and they look like they are stretching but due to the length of seedlings at implant..really they are about the same height ..the stems are just str8ter and more rigid.. i watered them a little pellets lookd a tad dry and placed outside a few hours.

okay pics are attached tell me how they look...pointers...and info needed..

Why the purple stems ..?is it because they were so tall @ planting{DAY 1} and they are adjusting growth to the actual light source now?

Also i constructed a small and i stress small "start box" which i am going to place the seedlings in for a more consistant light/heat cyle pics attached..you can see the lights i have been using mounted at top with a pc fan for airflow..

<<I originally started this thread in PLANT PROBLEMS but I will most likley need constant help so i reposted here>>

Day 4[/i scrapped the start box and created a new chamber for growth
today i transplanted the plants into a larger pot and they seem to be doing well in the new environment.

I really wanna start flowering as soon as they get a second tier on them...right now im still on 24 hr light cycle...is this okay?
what do i need to feed them? i need something i can get at a hardware store or dept store garden center..HELP

Too young to feed now, did use B1 for transplant... it helps. Glad to see you gave up on your first grow box, you need vertical room to raise the lights as needed. 24 hrs is fine at this stage. Good luck...

Im on my 2nd plant and yet my stems are still red. Im still in the flowering process atm too.

All I did was just keep watering its and taking care of it and its turned out to be great so far.

I dont know what purple stems mean but my plant did the same thing from sprout day one

as far as nuts go I got shultz 10-15-10 for vegi state and Shultz 2 - 7 - 7 for the flowering

I would wait a lil longer to feed. I believe I started my feeding 2 or 3 weeks after it sprouted

the first growbox i was using just to get the seedlings going and i realy dont wanna go too big... i planned on adding height as the grew ....evenstill the new box is much better ...more space and still can add on ....i plan on trying some dramatic lst or scrog to go wider not taller

cherrycoke
wow your baby looks great ...now im hoping my stems stay purple and thanx for nute suggestions..

questions: if im gonna start 12/12 when they grow up some do i feed only flowering nutes or a mix of both or what ?
@ this point i have two plants going ...do i need more light? ...shuld i mix spectrum?

DAY 7
palnts look good after transplant and being moved to new grow box..
i put them into a basic soil mixture to which i added perlite still have to water a bit daily
the soil seems to start to dry pretty fast. Still on 24 hour light cycle intill flowering which i hope to start around day 25 or so depending on growth..
The second node is busting out and the original rounded leaves are begining to yellow. im gonna pick up some nutes today and start feeding probly tomorrow ...do i need to wait for the original leaves to completely yellow? i also inted on getting a couple 6500k lights..to give a little veg boost... i will either swap out one of my exhisting 2700k or just add one 6500k (dont wanna shock the ladies) they seem to be doing good now tho without the 6500's...input needed ...pics to come soon

you sound more than competent my man, purple stems are normal on sum strains, i suffered from purple stems and eventually worked out that my nightime temps were too low, after sorting this the main stem is now green again but the leave stem is purple, im assuming this is normal as plant is healthy, i wud say same for yours:) wait till the cotelydons to turn completely yellow b4 nutes, then only start with 1/4 strength and increase gradually till u ready to flip to 12/12, i only ever feed every other watering but thats jus me sum nutes are tailored for constant feed depends wat ya using? carefull not to overwater soil is a bitch 4 that, (i use rockwool) even though the top is crusty its more than likely that the root zone is still moist! this will slow growing rate, trust me ive done it myself and took like 2mths to grow 8 nodes lol. better off to soak em proper till it starts to run through then leave for a gd couple of days norm 3-4 even. jus get used to the weight of a dry pot as its wen the soil has minimal water that the roots will start to search for it and create themselves a decnt root structure. hope this helps a bit my man:) and gd luck wit the grow

Nothing i can say that Sweetsmoker hasn't already said :p but hey ill toss some info out anyways and sound like a parrot :)

Ya purp/red stems are very normal for seedlings, they tend to go green as the plant starts to grow. (Unless your plant is genetically prone to red/purple stems/leaf are usually a sign that your temp has dropped too low, but again this is later on and not to be confused with the natural red/purple stem that very young seedlings or genetically prone plants tend to show)

Do you still only have the 2x 23w 2700k's? 2x 23w is fine for seedlings, but as they grow larger you will want to add more light. (I see that you have 6500k's but replaced with 2700's). Def toss those 2700k out until they get older (some people use them later on in veg mixxed with 5000k-6500k's). I personally like the 5300k full spectrum cfl's. I have gotten alot more of a productive veg off the 5300k's than the 6500ks. But again this would be personal preference. But i would def suggest putting your 2700ks away and saving all there juice for when you start to flower. (also im sure you've seen it 10,000 times but keep those lights 1-2" away from the tops of your plants :) ) (I personally veg 24/0 always. )

I would not start using nutes until around the 3rd or 4th node. Depending on what nutes you use def start with only 1/4 solution and work your way up. Like cherrycoke77 i currently use shultz 10-15-10 for veg. I originally started with a 1/4 suggested nute solution and gradually worked my way up to almost 400% the suggested nute solution (Dialing in your plant's can be very beneficial. but if you don't plan on cloning then dialing in is a little pointless since you will spend more time dialing in than you will be vegging)

Flowering your plants any sooner than 25-30 days old is going to do nothing but produce HUGE stretched skanky looking plants that are going to end up 5ft tall and impossible to cover adequately with cfl's. Before your plant is even remotely close to sexual maturing 12/12 will not force it to flower it will just force it to stretch :p The best thing to do is watch the nodes closest to your top shoots for any signs of preflowers, when you see your first sign of preflower growth toss them into flower and sexuality will show rather quickly. (always keep in mind that when you flower your plant will stretch & grow around 3x times its current size in a really short period of time).

Watering is a very hard subject to help someone on since what may be my tell tale sign its time to water may be way too late for you etc.

There are a lot of different methods to tell if your plant needs to be watered.

One way would be to watch your plant closely and do not water until your plants start to droop and scream for water (this is not safe with young plants and definitely a no no for seedlings since you tend to loose leaf's if your plant is allowed to droop for too long before watering).

If your soil is wet on the surface then they def do not need to be watered. I have a few mothers in really small containers (around 6" round 4" deep. I generally wait until around 1/2 - 1" of my topsoil is dry before watering (in reality i just lift the container and can tell & eventually so will you :) ).

I cannot stress enough how important drainage is for your pots. With really good drainage and soil that does not compact real fast with watering over watering is pretty hard to do.

**** This part is really no longer relevant but may be useful later on ****

When your seedlings crack the surface take them out of the Humid dome. Letting them grow in the humid dome after they have cracked the surface is going to most likely create some headaches and unless you slowly re-acclimate them to normal air temp & humidity before removing them from the humidity dome they will most likely die. (Imagine taking a native that has lived his whole life in the rain forest then tossing him out into the middle of the desert. He will most likely die unless he adapts to the climate rather quickly. same idea applies to your plants :p ya ya ya i have no idea where i got that comparison :p rofl )

**************
When you get used to these lil buggers i would suggest purchasing some known good genetics. (i assume you are growing bag seed unless i missed the strain info somewhere which is very possible :p )

The most important piece of advice I can possibly give you is..... Take every tip etc that myself and anyone else gives you with a grain of salt. What works for me might not for you etc. Have fun with it, try new things & experiment. :) (and def don't play with your plants all day every day, give them there alone time. the more you play with them the more likely that they will die :( )

For most growing initially starts because they wan't free bud but turns into a relaxing hobby rather quickly.

I def look forward to watching your grow.

Have a good one man, stay safe & stoned :)

Hey man, Yeah I think you've got things pretty well under control, and Epxyn and Sweetsmoke gave lots of good advice. I'll keep tuned in to see how things move along. Any pics of the grow area?

Wait til the cotyledons shrivel up and die, the little round leaves, then feed your plants.
Feed them veg nutes until you see buds, then start the bloom nutes.

Quick question, again if you stated it I missed so excuse the question.

What kind of soil are you using? Miracle grow or some other form of soil with nutes already in it? if so be very careful with any addition of other nutes. If your soil already has nutes you could burn your plants to death with the addition of other nutes..

new shoot growth @ a 45deg angle is good. At least it has always been a good sight in my eyes.

lookin good.

day10 update
:joint:
as far as i am aware i got the most basic garden soil i could find that inluded perlite ...ido not think any nutes are in it ...

i moved the lights a bit closer and the plant is pointing up even more ...looks like a flower opening up or a venus fly trap.. still getting bigger tho round leaves still hangin on ...top soil dry but plants show no signs of lacking water..

okay just an update ...my baby was yellowing i trimmed off 2 fan leaves that were completely yellow ...the plant has not grown any larger...i dont know whats going on ...seems like it grew better with the 2600k than with the 5500k ...either way it does not seem to be getting any larger...thought it was rootbound xferred to larger pot ...its been 3 days since then ....still no growth...ANYBODY?

If you were getting more productivity with the 2700's pop them back on :) Then switch back to 5500ks once the plant starts to veg a bit more.

Do you have any pics so we can see a comparison so we can see the non growth? (this might & might not help others to diagnose your problem).
