my setup is at about 79 degrees F is this too hot? i dont have a fan either, is that necessary? do different plants want different temps?

79 degrees is fine. You'll need a small fan blowing GENTLY across the plants to simulate the moving air of the outdoors. This will strengthen the stems by slightly stressing them. Think of the weight room ... light weights and lots of reps.
