I actually found a Pyrex bake a round tube on craigslist for $5. I got to looking into how much they reduce light and figured if I can get away without one Id be better off. If I have to keep them ANY further than 5-6 inches Ill probably use it, otherwise I want to try and keep nothing between the bulb and plants.

DAY 55 (Harvest Day)
Plant Stage: Flower [Day 41] Light Cycle: 20/4 Light: 150w HPS Medium: 75% Sunshine Mix, 20% Pearlite, 5% Bone Meal Ferts: 1 Tbsp Molasses per gallon every other watering Strain: 3x Diesel Ryder Females, harvest day for 2 of them Well, amazingly enough it is already harvest time!! Not even quite 8 weeks from seed, man I love these autoflower babes!! I made my mind up weeks ago that I wanted to harvest before too many amber trichs formed, and that I would harvest both plants at the same time. It worked out very well. The shorter plant, Daria, has mostly cloudy trichs with probably 25% or more amber but only on the small leaves. The taller one, Ellie May, has pretty much 50/50 clear & cloudy trichs, with a couple ones starting to turn amber. Also the leaves are all starting to curl up and get crispy, even so the day after watering. So the wife and I chopped them down, and took our time trimming them up nice & pretty to hang. We got 6 grams of trich covered trimmings. I tossed any leaf that didnt have trichs. The wet weight of Ellie May was 44.2g stem and all, and Daria was the fat little heavyweight at 48g. If I lose 70% I should end up with just shy of an ounce total. I am very satisfied with that considering the small amount of time from seed to harvest and the minimal space usage. I plan to have 6-10 females going if at all possible ext round. If I can keep them all roughly this small, I think we can live off of 3-5 ounces every 2 months no problem! And my fridge in the garage can be fore experimenting Ok on to the pictures!! Here are the girls just before cutting them down. Ellie May, on the left, ended up at 9.75" tall, and fat little Daria only got to 7.75". The way I see it, why grow tall plants if only the top 6-10" gets good light, why not just have 6-10" plants? ![]() Here they are hanging in the closet. It stays about 68F-72F in there and like 55%-60% humidity. ![]() A closeup shot of Daria. The extra branch hanging is one that I accidentally broke off, minus the lower bud we picked for a little quickdry ![]() A closeup shot of Ellie May. This is the onemy wife trimmed, she had way too much fun ![]() ![]() ![]() Thats all I have for now on the 2 harvested ladies, but I did snap a shot of the one DIesel Ryder I have left thats still in the mini fridge. She is right around 30 days old, and already looking bigger and badder than the 2 I harvested looked at 30 days. ![]() So Im not sure if I will keep posting in this thread or start a new one. I need to make a couple modifications to the mini fridge and FINALLY get rid of my gnats once and for all before planting any new seeds. So I may start a fresh thread, if so Ill post the link in here! Thanks to all for the interest in my grow. If you have any comments or questions feel free!!! Peace KB

OK so I decided this thread is finished. The total weight after drying and removing all the large stems was 25g of bud. I think about 14g came off Daria, and 11g came off Ellie May. Not too shabby considering they were started under CFLs, spent 2 weeks on 12/12 so that some non AFs could flower, then they finished early under the 150w HPS.
The next batch I have going is a SOG run of Diesel Ryders in the mini fridge. I have many friends that use ICMag, and they have been asking me to post stuff about the mini fridge there for a while now, so I am starting that thread over there. If I had the time I would try and keep one going on both sites but Im afraid I dont have the time. For anyone interested in following that grow, the link can be found HERE. I currently have 20 seeds planted in 16oz party cups, all in the mini fridge. They will be under the 150w HPS from seed to harvest. I hoping to get a BARE minimum of 6 plants, and at least 3oz dry off the run. If I get lucky with the females and get more, I could see this run yielding 6 ounces or more dry Thanks for all the support guys, and I will still be hangin around here on RIU, I just may put off starting any new threads for a while, we'll see. I'm still up for answering any and all questions, and if you still feel like commenting feel free! Thanks again guys! Peace KB

KB.... man.... I have no idea how I missed the harvest. Just saw it. Bro, what a nice haul for the time, space, and energy used. Excellent work.
You said: "why grow tall plants if only the top 6-10" gets good light" and I totally agree with you... that's why I'm going vertical for my next grow. I'm really excited to see how it works out. Great trimming you guys did. Your wife did an excellent job... sorry, but I like hers better. My wife helps too. We are lucky men. About you going to icmag, we're sorry to see you go, but it's cool your friends are there. It's fun to grow with friends. Just promise you will come back and check on us every once in a while.

Hey Jig Sorry for the late reply, missed your post somehow haha! Maybe we smoke too much? ...nah! Thanks for all the kind words, I have probably 3-4 grams left of the 2 girls and its still gettin better by the day. My wife was very happy to hear you liked her trim job, she worked very hard on it :P Ill still be hangin around RIU every day, just probably wont be starting any threads for a while. I still have my large fridge thread going (which I need to update horribly) and I just dont wanna overload myself. I appreciate all the nice comments & overall good karma youve passed my way, it has helped me stay focused and motivated! Peace KB

Glad I can help. I get inspiration from you... so it's only fair to give little back.
Props to RIU and to the mj growing community in general.

1st of I'd just like to say, Phenomenal Grow Kolorblind! The ladies look absolutely delicious!
I just finished reading your thread. I'm getting ready for my 1st grow with a AK47xLowryder and couldn't help but notice the quality of your LRs and was hoping to produce something similar myself. That being said, I was wondering what soil/nuts you used for your LRs. If i read it correct, you used Sunshine Mix (75%) is that Sun Grow: Sunshine Mix? and what #? there seems to be 1-2-3-4 dif mix types of the Sunshine Mix Perlite (20%) I'm assuming scotts will do just fine.. Bone meal (5%) is that easy to come by at a gardening store? And than a Tbsp of Molasses every other watering day It seems like a pretty simple soil/nut set up. I am a first time grower and was hoping to start off on the right foot without getting too crazy with nuts and grow-micro-bloom ect. I'm actually not even sure if LRs are suppose use nuts like that... idk But great grow! def an inspiration to me.. hope to get my own up and growing within a few weeks here after a few more purchases of the soil/nuts Hope to hear back from ya Joan Figgens Last edited by Joan.figgens; 09-15-2009 at 01:35 PM.. |
