Hey guys sorry its been a while, work is crazy this time of year for me. Unfortunately the mini fridge is still not ready, but the plants are sure ready for it, HAHA! I have hooked up all the duct work I just need to sand & repaint it, cut a shelf to fit, hang it and it will be finished!

Until then, the cab is working just fine. I harvested my 2 larger Diesel Ryders and took pictures, but Im tired and Ive already posted them in both the other threads in my sig, so if you wanna check them out follow one of the links.

As far as all the plants that will go into the fridge, my 2 female diesel ryders are doing wonderful, they are already taller than my harvested ones were and they're only at day 25! Its amazing how much transplanting in time makes a difference! So here are the two ladies, Daria (Left) and Ellie May (Right).


Here are all 6 of the Apollo11/Green Giants, looking nice & healthy. I desperately need to put them all in 6 inch pots, but dont have the room in the cab. I am having to water them every day and the roots are filling the cup up fast. Hopefully they will be in bigger pots by this weekend.


And here is the extremely cramped cab. The 3 up front are my newest 3 diesel ryder seedlings. 1 of the 4 I started never cracked or sprouted


As soon as the mini fridge is operational I will be taking lots of pics and posting them asap!

Hey sorry, just realized I missed your question. I have a 10x jewelers loop and from what I could tell, roughly 10% of the trichs were amber, the rest were a little cloudy. That was the day I put them in the closet with lights out for 2 days. And again, these girls were abnormally small, they were kept in a 16oz cup for a month and then in a translucent pot. But obviously you can keep these plants pretty small if you need to!

Well, I decided that the best way to finish the fridge was to just skip what I was dreading the most, which was sanding and repainting the inside. It is already white, just has some flaws & smudges. My cab was really starting to cook the plants, not to mention I had to leave the doors open on it completely ruining the stealth aspect. So I cut & hung my 16x16" laundry shelf, rigged a PC fan up real quick to cool the bulb and plugged it all in.

Heres a shot just after getting the fridge situated and fired up.


I moved all the plants into the fridge for the night to see how they do, I will monitor temps & everything pretty close for the next week or so. As I said, the cab really cooked the girls a couple days and I have been under watering the Apollo11/Green Giants since they require practically daily watering and I have been lazy. Im almost certain I will lose a couple of the A/GGs and I think one of my new DR seedlings may not ever grow leaves but the 2 Diesel Ryder females are looking pretty damn good! All the plants were showing a lot of yellow so i decided to put about 1/2 tablespoon Alaskan Fish Fertilizer (5-1-1) per gallon of water to up the nitrogen a bit, well see how it does. Here they are, hopefully next update they will look better.


And a top view, I have my 3 seedlings in the middle about 11 inches from the bulb.



I am very excited to see how well this HPS performs vs. my CFL setup I had. Ill say one thing, it seems it will be much easier cooling 1 bulb than trying to keep air blowing on 8 CFLs! The 2 female Diesel Ryders tops are about 6-7 inches from the bulb, hopefully that PC fan is enough to keep the tops from burning. Well let me know what you guys think, its not exactly how I had it planned but it just got real hot, real busy at work, and real crazy at home so I just wanted to get the damn thing operational! All feedback is appreciated!

I don't have experience comparing the two, but I'm sure you will be happy with the difference in the HID vs. cfls. Can't wait to see what happens.

The plants still look good even with the yellow. Be looking beautiful this time next week.

Thats awesome man, how many total did you have? Ill tell ya, its real easy to under estimate how big a full grown plant will be when they are small. I am actually pretty glad that I only got 2 females because I dont know how the hell I would fit anymore plants in this mini fridge haha! The plan it to move the A11/GGs to the big fridge once I know sex.

Haha thanks for the compliments! I am very excited about this setup. After running for 2 hours last night the temp was 77F. It turned off for 4 hours, and by the time I got up it had been on for almost 5 and the temp was 77F!!! That made me so happy! I mean hell, the ambient room temp is maybe 2 degrees less than that! Once I get home from work tonight it will have been running for about 14 hours so that will be the real test.

Ill keep you guys updated but from what I can tell, this is going to me a very nice setup to fine tune over the next few years. Minus the intensive labor required to remove all the foam I would recommend this project to anyone lookin to grow 1-4 plants for personal use! Probably $250-$300 total for parts.

looks fuckin amazing. could u tell me your set up. i work with cfls. i have 7 23 watt cfls flowerin 2 plants. ther boath females. but they git little buds. i was wonderingin if i should addd nuts. idk help?

Well, I would say you number 1 problem is the high amount of low wattage CFLs you are using. 7 23w CFLs is 161 total watts. You could just as easily use a 150w HPS bulb and get WAY better results.

If you are trying to stick with CFLs, then go to home depot and buy the 42w or 68w ones they have there. They both screw into the same size socket that the 23w bulbs do. The 68w are $15 a piece and the 42w are $9.95 a piece where Im at. You also want to make sure that you have some "daylight" CFLs for vegging, then use the Soft White/Orange bulbs for flowering. The 68w and 42w are only available in soft white at Home Depot, but if you used 6 or so 23w daylight bulbs for veg, then a couple 68w or 4 42w for flowering you would get MUCH better results! Hope that helps, let me know if you still have any questions.



In other news, I got home last night and looked at the temps in the mini fridge and was very pleased. The low was 69F (Lights off & Exhaust on for 4 hours) and the high ended up being 80F (Lights on for 20 hours) which is VERY acceptable. The best part is that my fan is on its low setting and you cant even hardly hear the thing. That is also after pushing through a carbon scrubber, which bogs the fan down even more.

I also bumped the shelf up another inch and raised the shorter diesel ryder up another inch on top of that, so both Diesel Ryder females are about 5 inches from the light now, if they aren't burned at all when I get home I will most definitely leave them there, I want to get as close as possible. The buds are really starting to fatten up and there are trichs all over them now! Ill snap some pictures soon!
