Default Cooking spider mite eggs.
OK, I got your attention. Heres the deal, I grow in a cabinet and have had spider mites for several grows. I am in between grows right now.

I know eggs can lie dormant until conditions are right to hatch so I am trying to fool them. I just moved my cabinet outside in the sunshine. My hopes are cabinet will heat up and the eggs will hatch. There will be no plants for them. Then it will get real hot like over 100° in there and they will cook and I will be done with them.

So, what do you think? Will it work?

Default Mite destruction
They say mite eggs take 3-10 days to hatch and mites can hybernate for years.

You may want to bleach the crap out of that cab.

The tough part is that mites will hide in the tiniest crevices that are hard to wet (water beads and resist getting into small spaces sometimes). Some parts of your cab can contain electrical parts that should not get wet.

You may want to hang a no pest stip in your cab for a 1 week after a good bleach cleaning.

There is a great deal of info about hot shot no pest strips if you have not head of them. They wont work while you are venting air out of the cab. The cab has to be sealed.

FYI- some people argue no pest strips should not be used around flowering.

good luck with the mites. I think under the circumstances you should be able to stop the borg.

Yeah just clean it out w/ some bleach that'll do it. Maybe get some organic bug spray and pre- treat your cab b4 next grow. Or feed them to some lady bugs.

Lady bugs are the way to go man. Or try this mix regular rubbing alcohol with water 50/50. That will kill them on contact. The alcohol will evaporate. No worries

Also mites multiply 10x faster in hotter temps. Fact. They are a pain, and not to be taken lightly. Insecticidle soap would work as well. The alcohol trick however can be applied directly to the plant itself. With no harmfull effects. Make sure to spray under the leaves.

I just got an infestation of spider mites somehow in my cab and I went straight to the store and bought the no pest strip. Its been about 2 weeks and all the mites seem to be dead. I check the leaves everyday and looking at them with a mag glass you can clearly see they are dead. I am also exhausting the air and the strip worked. But I hung it right in front of my oscilating fan so it was constantly blowing on the plants.

They work very well in my opinion. The thing is 1 strip is recommended for 10' by 13' rooms if I remember right so if you have a small cab i definitely wouldn't put plants in there.

Yea, I hope.

Thats the thing. I am trying to get around the bleach. Trying to get them to hatch instead of hibernate. I got time. Summer is here, I figure let mother nature take care of it for me.

I am expecting it to get over 110 in there in the next few weeks. I guess I am just wondering how hot does it have to be to cook them.
