Day 16 79-85F 49-59% Humidity 1850ppm 6.0pH
Was a hot day today and my friend stop by to see the ladies, after seeing them, he told me to tie down the taller outer branches so the inner tops get more intense light from the led panel, and I can then get the light lower. I did it after I got back from work and I am glad I did, now the inner buds have started to catch back up with the taller top buds. I can't get single shots of the first and third clone so I just taking single shots of the buds that are visible to the front and some in the back, mostly thou of clone three. Day 17 77-83F 46-56% Humidity 1900ppm 5.5pH It is supposed to cool off this weekend and stay cool the rest of next week, mid 80's, so the growth should pickup a bit, you can see the plants are doing well with the low stress training from yesterday. I fixed the drooping top of the tent with a piece of plywood. Here is the link to the site I bought my Led Panel from, it is the 2009 R+O+B, Red 660nm Orange 610nm and Blue 450nm, Panel. Here are both days Pictures Last edited by Lanaborn; 06-20-2009 at 02:12 PM.. |

I removed clone two because it was still only 5" tall with no signs of growth. I suspected it to be from stress at first until I looked at the clone's roots, the clone had not sent any into the water, it had not even hit the bottom of the pot. By my estimates they were 4-5 inches in length, they were extremely under developed, not having very many off shoots, all I can think of is the hormone dip did not work and only a small portion was able to create roots therefore it couldn't grow any larger, plus the rock wool cube was very hard and dense still, maybe they couldn't penetrate through it. Here are pictures of it.

lanaborne,
I am really concerned that you're on the road to wispy popcorn buds man, not good for this experiment. The best advise I have for use is to make up for the gaping lack of infrared in this grow; something which you don't even need that much of it... However it is a necessary component for the productive use of a light cycle. Its a very easy optimization to improve this grow, and is more than worth the little amount of space it costs. Peace

Okay so even further then 660nm, like 700nm I believe is infrared. Yeah the buds are still small I think it's late already, and I might want to bridge the whole spectrum with some T5's running the height of the corners of the Tent, so the sides get a lot of penetration and energy and heat will still be controllable. This then would give me a little of all the wavelengths at least and then, they would not be so late and wispy. Still I am very impressed with only being 120 Watts they are not way more stretched out. Also on another note I am new to indoor so I am using a premix hydroponics product called Sugar Peak, I am using the Flowering mix which is a 2-4-5, I have been told by my friends that was weird to have so much nitrogen in the flowering and 1-5-5 would be better. They have another product they call Grand Finale for the last two weeks before harvest and it is 0-6-4. Seems like the nitrogen could also be causing them to still try to grow taller, instead of putting flower growth on. Anyways I plane to completely revamp my next test as I now know more about indoor growing. As I have said before I now want to have a more manageable canopy like a SoG with a single cola and when I topped them this time to have more sites, thinking it would be better to just fill the area with plant, more like a bush like outdoor, I threw that out the window, so knowing how they use the space, and about light penetration through the canopy, I am going with six plants next time, they will be in 3" pots, two rows of three, they will not be topped, but will be trimmed if they have lower branches already like the previous ones did. The bottoms of the pots will be two inches or so from the water, there is and will be two air rods pumping air under each row of three. As for adding some 2' T5's I will decide after this grow. I got the idea of using LED lights for growing cannabis, for a guy named Hans, he lives somewhere in Amsterdam and uses single LED lights configured in different percentages of the different wavelengths he thinks the plant uses the most, He has gotten small scale results with 59-60 grams off three plants at 60 watts of power giving him a .8g-1g per watt, I found that to be amazing. He is currently working with 21 clones under the same 60 watts of lighting and they look pretty nice they are about a week behind but still unreal for only 60 watts, I can not wait to see the weight for this new Grow. If you want the address I will give you it to you in a private message. Thank you for the advice and keep it all coming, I appreciate any constructive feedback.
P.S. I found this after writing this, its not the IR they need to stay shorter and stockier depending on genetics, its the red's in the 660nm and IR in the 730nm range are used for the other end of the light cycle yes, before they go to bed and early each morning. I see this to be a problem because you don't want to much IR because its going to make the plant think its being blocked and will stretch, it's all here. Day 18 72-81F 44-55% Humidity 1750ppm 5.8pH
A lot cooler today as you can see the exhaust fans didn't kick on till late in the afternoon and are already off, supposedly this was the first day of summer. As for the post earlier today about Infrared, I am confused because IR is produced off everything, that's why you see in the dark with night vision technology. But how much is needed for the plant to go through the cycles of day and night. After reading that site about Red and Infrared and its effects on plant I don't think its all the fault of the LED. First the Light no matter what it is coming from is not going to be able to penetrate a dense canopy, Second having so many sites the plant is trying to grow causes them all two be smaller, and Lastly inexperience pays the heaviest toll on why they could be the way they are now. I can only wait now and see how these two clones will finish, and improve the next grow. Any improvement idea's would be great. Here are today's photo's. |

Day 22 77-83F 42-52% Humidity 1850ppm 5.7pH
Another hot day, going be cooler this weekend. Now three weeks into flowering with five to six more, they are starting to look better, all I can Think is the Hydro mix setup I am using is not the greatest and so I have said screw the charts and started giving the Grand Finale with a small amount of the Flowering mix, this is hopefully increasing the potash and phosphate levels and lowering that nitrogen levels to around 1-6-5. Here are the Pictures |

Day 25 75-85F 46-50% Humidity 1890ppm 6.0pH
I Think they look great and are responding better to the lower nitrogen levels and higher potash and phosphate levels. I got some idea's from some about how to do my SoG reservoir setup and I think they are great but what I have been noticing is in the simple submersible pump setup the roots are get chopped up by the pump and getting clogged in the T's. I am going to try a filter bag I have seen in a hydro store locally. Here are toady's Pictures. |

Day 29 77-84F 42-52% Humidity 2000+ppm 5.9pH
They look great, now done with week four and on week five now with four to five to go. At least I think they are looking good, but I would love some input on what you experienced indoor growers think about their development. Here are today's pictures.
