I have a 1000watt HPS set-up. I am growing in a 6ft wide X 6ft tall X 40" deep cabinet I built in my shed.

Im new to 1000watt growing and Im curious as to how close people have lights and stuff. My last grow they were fairly close but I had high temps. My plants looked great but turned out ALL male. Now I got my temps down and Im growing 6 feminized seeds from attitude.

Im growing in dirt with almost no nutes. only nutes im giving are when I flower and maybe only a little bit. I plan to use some molasses at some point.

If anyone can post a picture of what your plants look like and a little info like how close your lights are and what temps you got that would be very helpful!

i aircool my 1ks... at the end of the stretch i like my plants' canopy 12"-18" away from the light

ya im usually raising my lights, maybe 16" to 24" above canopy, i grow in 5'x5'x7....they do get hot thats for sure, mine is air coolable but NOT air cooled...i just use an AC. i can show you a pic of a 60 day old plant 12/12 under the 1k from maybe 15 days after sprout. so 45 days under 12/12 under the 1k. temps usually stay anywhere from 78-83 with lights on and 68-73 with lights off...helps if you get a digital temp gauge with a memory in it that records your high and low...like 6$ at wally world.

awsome thank you. i just always have my light within 12" and my plants are short and thick with leaves. maybe i should stretch them a little?

i like the "hand test".... some folks call it bullshit but whatever its works for me and thats all that matters...

putyou hand over than canopy, and if the hand is uncomfortable after a few minutes the light is too close

thats the ticket man...I have my plants as close as 8-9 inches in flower......but I have my hood set at 3 & 1/2 ft when my plants plants are smaller I raise them closer to the lights on boxes

^^^thats the way work smarter not harder.... I like to leave my lights where they are...

I tried moving lights up and down with the plants under them, and i found thats a great way to potentially ruin your crop if a reflector falls down. could be a huge disaster....

how far away would you put the plants fro a 1000w HPs that is not air cooled. I have a 10,000 BTU ac, and a mover as well. I thought since they were moving I may be able to get them a little closer
