Default Aircooled Hoods - tradeoff between temperature and UVB
so ive been thinking about upgrading my lights to aircooled versions, but after a bit of reading ive only got more questions.

so from what i gather, if you use an aircooled hood you need to use a glass lens to keep the hot air in the hood so that it can be sucked out and not allowed to enter the grow room. however the glass lens is going to absorb a large amount of the UVB radiation, which will significantly reduce the amount of THC the plant produces, therefore negatively effecting quality.

on the other hand, if you do use an aircooled hood, you can bring the lights down lower to the plants, and increase light intensity.

so thats the trade off...

anyone wanna shed some light on the topic for me? cause currently im over the whole thing.

As long as your drawing a good volume of air from right around the bulb and venting it outside, don't bother with the glass.

i use cooltubes, and my bulbs are 100% surrounded by glass, i use 1k hortilux hps, and my plants are about 14-16 inches below the glass and my plants are coated in trics.

i use the tubes to heat my house up here in canada, which allows me to run alot more lights and never run heaters.
with a flip flop. making the most of my energy costs and staying green,,,

Huh, the thought crossed my mind, but .... seems like you must lose a lot of the efficiency of the aircooled system.

know of any other articles or thread written about the subject?

thanks!
