    Default Is 85 to hot?

I just installed a 400 w hps in my grow room that is 3x3x 5.8. I have three intake fans located towards the bottom of the room (all 80 mm and one 120 mm), and I also have four outtake fans that are all 80 mm, and my temps hover around 85 F. My light is about 18 inches away from my plants, and they air around them feels cool enough. I'm just wondering if 85 F with great air circulation is acceptable, or if it's simply to hot.

    ???

Honestly you will be OK with 85 but don't let it get higher!

You really need it to be around 78 but 85 is not tooooo bad.

Optimal temps are 76-78 when the light is on and 66-68 when lights are off.

No thats fine for veg, try not to go any higher. Cannabis can survive tempertures from 32 degrees F to over 100 degrees F. But will grow best with a temperture of 70 to 75 degrees F day and night. Higher than 90 degrees F the enzymes within the plant begin to breakdown and photosynthesis is affected. The same is true for low tempertures.

Alright thanks guys! I raised my light by about 10" and the temps are now around 78-80. But I have one other quick question, are the hps bulbs supposed to make a slight bit of noise?

Is it coming from ballast or from bulb itself?

It's definitely coming from the bulb, it's an infrequent noise sort of like a very quiet alarm clock.

hmmm. well hopefully the noise will end, because it wasn't making any noise when I first turned it on. I just hope my bulb doesn't explode while i'm gone...because that would suck.

I dont mean to totally change the subject here but would like an opinion/suggestion on my situation. Im working on a side project,...a small scrog cabinet. The cabinet is 42"Hx 40"Wx24"D (Odd size I know) I wanted to go CFL just for kicks & its stealth fellas....I over shot & have two 150 watt Ecoplus bulbs with a bright wing reflectors.ust one alone is pushing me up to 90 degrees (I know) Well lets keep in mind I can build & this is kinda like a (super discreet workshop built-in) It has an over head cabinet where I am keeping a 170 CFM Grow Bright Can Fan *Its loud as Hell! So the scrupper is in the bottom...it is plumbed into a plenum wall that leads to the overhead. When I run the fan its way to loud. I dont want to run the fan all the time & the 1-150cfl gives out like 9200 lumens yet I need
both for 2-3 plants. Any suggestions. *I think Its tight! Just needs some tweaking. *I see some stealth growers talking bout 150-250 HPS....I dont see how......anyone?
