Ok, so i started abotu 17 plants in red 20oz plastic cups 5 days ago, and ive got 14 that are doing wonderful. I am about to move them indoors in a day or so into a 3x3x3 area, with a 400W HPS with MH conversion bulb for veg. Just a couple of questions. Being a 3'x3' space and 3' tall, should i use just one gallon containers, cut off 2 liters, or just plastic grocery bags that are about a gallon when full of soil? i plan on topping the plants at about 18-24 in. due to the short room, and i plan on doing it with the fishline-bush method, or possibly SCROG, but my question, should i just use plastic kroger grocery bags, full of soil, about 1 gallon, or go buy one gallon pots, or use 1 g grow bags, or 2 gallon? or could i cut 2 liters and use the majority of it? just wondering, and like i said, its 3x3x3' with a 400W light that takes up the top 6 inches of the room, with NO glass cover lens thing over the bulb, and the plants tied down to control height. just let me know what size containers you would use yourself. another question, my kw/hr is supposedly .02 is that right? if so a 600W lamp ran 18 hrs a day would be less than 15$ a month...is that right?

another thing, im not sure if i should get a 400W or 600W HID light, prob. hps ballast with mh conversion bulb.....the area is a 3x3x3 area, with decent ventilation, dont know if 600 would be to much added heat, or if it would be worth the yield if i could keep temps down, also dont know about the cost per month difference between 400 and 600, just want the most efficent with the best yield as well, i think im going with the 600 from htg supply or florahydroponics

Also, I went conversion. It's nice to have capabilities. I'm veggin with CFLs but I have the option to do MH with the HPS for flower.

I guess you could go for the shortest pot possible and just flower them all as early as you can, using whatever techniques you like to keep them short.

You only have three feet of height, minus the light, minus the pot height, minus the distance you have to leave between the plants and the light. You're looking at maybe two feet of space for the plants - a little less, really, so... use the shortest, widest pots you can, I suppose.

Honestly, I don't see how you could fit 14 gallon-sized containers into a 3x3 foot space, anyway. Maybe 14 2-liter bottle bottoms, but not 14 gallon jug bottoms.

You might have to go really small - like 4-6 inch square pots. Use square pots to get as much volume of soil possible.

another question is about my nutes - ive got the nutes that mix with soil, they are like little tan beads, that mix with the soil, and ive got 19-6-12 for veg and gonna get something like 8--17-17 for flower, also beads that mix with soil, so much for the amount of soil....anyways, do you guys think that these types of nutes are good and the NPK is ok as well, my soil is quality soil/peatmoss/perlite w/ lime

is it osmocote? (sp?) thats a time release nute, be careful

Ehh they will work, but be careful. What is the NPK of your soil? brand?
As far as a size pot to see if the 3' tray planter deals will fit in there, you could plant 2-3 girls in those...or check other stores they should have 5-10qt pots there.
