Hi everyone

iv just brought a 400w hps grow lamp with built in ballast, aluminium casing

and ceramic buld holder iv paid £55 and it also comes with 2 orange spectrum bulbs. Iv

added a picture of it but wanted to know am i also able to use Metal Halide bulbs as

well as the hps bulps on my lamp and what is the 2 orange spectrum bulbs

for and how may plants would i be able to grow under 400 watts and should i

also throw in a few fluorsent lights on the side . My grow room is width 4ft 3

inch X 3ft 4 inch depth and 8ft height.

Hey because you have a unit that has a bilt in ballast you are going to have alot of heat... you will have to vent it well. I would say 6 plants.... depends on veg time.

It has been my experience that many ballasts accept either HPS or MH type bulbs, but I have heard of ballasts that will accept both. However, without knowing the exact model number of your ballast, I couldn't say with absolute certainty that your ballast is the latter type.

It should be labled MH only. HPS labled only HPS.The ones that light both are labled HPS OR MH.But not knowing the model or the maker I would not be able to say.PEACE

hi.... got my lamp today and its type is PL/ 780/N400/240 volt, so any ideas if i can use a MH bulb with it

i brought it off ebay and the person who i brought if of wasnt sure....never mind, what price should i be looking at to pay for a mh lamp
