I am 4 days in to cloning in 1inch rockwool cubes, I use normal water from my tap which is well water not city water. But I haven't been pHing it, does this make that much of a deal?

It could..it's really gonna depend on what the pH of the well water is and how it reacts with the limestone dust in the cubes (which cause the pH to rise if not thoroughly flushed before planting). If yer water is acidic you may skate by. If it's alkaline and you didn't flush the cubes you will see lockout and the clones may start to suffer....or worse.

time will tell. And hey...if yer gonna use RW you gotta go buy a pH pen. If you don't you'll do a lot of work for nothing.

Since I don't have means of changing the pH of my water etc etc.. is it too risky to take the cutting out of the rockwool? I don't mean pull it out, but slice the cube open and break it away.

You can do that..but the more ya F with it the more chance there is that something will go wrong...especially if it's starting to form roots.

Well I did take them out of the rockwool, gently ripping the rockwool away from the cutting. No roots had formed (that I could see) on any of the 10 cuttings, this would have been Day 5 since cut. I recut and dipped in root hormone powder and put into soil. I cloned 2 plants a few weeks ago into soil and both cloned perfectly, so I will stick with soil.. it seems to be more forgiving.

bt dt, I'd say 8 or so looked exactly like when i cut them the first time. 2 of them were kind of swelling up at the bottom where the cut was made.
