Suspend the light above the plant so that you can adjust the hight to keep it around 5" above the upermost folieage. And anything bigger than a 100w cfl (NOT 43w) should avoid stem stretching and keep things nice and bushy. Use a good lamp shade to reflect the light down and line the grow space with reflective insulation or paint it with white reflective paint which could be better where cold is not issue. Adapt this info to your situation and try not to be take advice too literaly otherwise ... and good luck with your grow.
