Ok so first time growing..i have 3 young plants say 2inches tall or so...do i keep the light on 24hrs,2inches away until its around 10inches or so?And will that promote flowering,on time or too soon?And can i sex a plant..like keep it from being a male?

hey wats up Throwed most growers do keep the lights on their plants for 24 hours during the first couple of weeks or the vegatative stage. The distance you want to keep the light from your plants depends on your light but if you are using compact flourescants than two inches is good unless you start to see burning. To induce flowering you will want to change your light cycle from 24 hours to 12 hours on and 12 hours off. In regard to inducing flowering when the plants are 10 inches, that all depends on how much grow space you have. Your plants can be expected too triple in size from when you induce flowering to harvest. As for sexing you cant really make your plant female unless you buy and use feminized seeds. But a little bit into flowering you can tell the sex of the plant by looking around the stalk of the plant. Females will have the beginings of small pistils coming out while the males will have small pollen sacks begining to form. Good luck man and anymore questions just fire away glad to help
