Plus light from two angles rather than one never hurt anything either.

Actually it's more about how tall of a plant a light can support, and how much floor area, but you can yield more on a 150 than you can on a 400 if you don't use the 400 right or can't keep the temperatures down, it all depends.

I just replaced my 250w halide with two of those $20 150's and I'm happy. I was going to use all three but didn't need it and it was just extra heat. I grow 2' plants max on a shelf in my closet at the moment, that's all. No big impressive grow here yet.
haha i always seem to post right after you yea a couple 150s, for $20 a piece you can afford to experiment see what the temps are like then add more or go bigger

Yea your using about the same wattage, the hps will have more lumens but the cfls will have better coverage and better spectrum, which is pretty much the argument between the 2

alright, so that means some hardwiring, I dont have a normal light socket and bulb in the closet, just the fluros with plugs atm, and when I did cfls i was going to mount them on a board with a surge protector, and plug it in as well ,how could i effectively set 2 of these up? mount them on white boards of ply? or..? this would be a first time hardwiring for me, although im fairly good at figurin things out

Divide the lumens combined by the watts total and get lumens per watt. You'll find HPS is the most efficient.

You will have heat no matter what, so I really wouldn't be concerned about that. 250w of hps and 250w combined cfl's put out comparable heat levels.

The light from cfl's doesn't have the penetration the light from HPS's do, meaning you need to constantly adjust cfl's and hang them around the plants within an inch of the leaves, moving them almost daily. The only reason you can say they have better coverage is cause you have to have them mounted all over the place and move them around to make better coverage.

HPS you will have to raise every few days as the plants grow.

How much is it going to take to convince you to go HPS?
Everyone will say go hps if you can, and you can.

Just buy something like this, no wiring, already has a plug, and its cheap, they have different sizes also

You hang them horizontall from chain with hooks so it's easy to move up and down.

Find a couple pieces of metal to use as reflectors too, bend them over your leg shine it up or paint it white and you'll do even better with them. Or you can just buy round 4" hard heating ducting from a home center for like $5. Pull it open at the seam and put them both under it facing eachother. They'll usually even cut it to length for you. Ideal...

Up to you man, I just try to get everyone to go HPS to start because there's no denying it can grow fatter buds on the same power. If you have a link to another super deal you gotta post it though.
