Nope, aluminum foil will cause your lights to burn your plants. Use mylar (the shiny wrapping paper stuff).

Yep, Mylar is the sh*t. Head over to your local dollar store, they have mad wrapping paper there for cheap. The waterproof stuff has mylar on the back, so does a lot of other types. Just pop the end open and check it out in the store to make sure...

I've discovered the cheapest Mylar around-- only 2 bucks$! You save 18 bucks$ a roll! It?s a Christmas present wrapping Mylar called Polywrap

- Waterproof
- 50 square ft. a roll
- 1 mil (@ .001 inch) thick X 3 1/2 ft. wide X 20ft long.

Note: Only buy the very Bright and shiny Mylar-type wrapping!

Have you guys ever thought of using mirrors? i feel like under my bulb if there was a mirror reflecting the most direct light exactly duplicated to each branch... i thought of this because my plant right under my light is X2 the size of every other plant

Don't use mirrors. They absorb light and can get very warm. White paint is better than mirror. But mylar is surely your best bet. Good Luck!

I used foil for part of my first grow and didn't really have a problem but I'd still recommend what everyone else is saying and get some mylar - it's just as cheap as foil and much better. Tin foil only has about 1% reflectivity so it's not really worth using at all.

Peace.
