Default r40 heat lamp??

wondering if i can use this light, Westinghouse Light Bulb 04329 - 250R40/HT - 250 watt 130 volt R40 Medium E26 Standard Base Clear Heat Flood Incandescent Westinghouse Light Bulb at ServiceLighting.com
as a 12 hour on/off light. Can i use it in a normal light socket, i got it from work..... any help would be great!!
