when selecting a hood/reflector does it make a difference if it has a lens covering the bulb?

A lens cover would defuse the light.
Thats not what you want.

The difference is with a glass lens the reflector can be air-cooled.
Makes no difference to the plants as far as the amount of light.

But it may make all the difference in the world when your trying to figure out how to keep the temps down later.

so i should get one with a lens cuz it will help lower the temp

only if it's forced air cooled other wise your just blocking some of your light.

yeah if u get the lens, it will be great for heat, you can specifically control the heat of the lights to go straight out instead of all around your grow. great for temps

No, as a matter of fact. you will be able to take better advantage of the lights lumes because you will be able to put it closer to your plant.

You must air cool your reflector by adding a fan. You do this by attaching duct to your reflector then to an inline fan and exhaust outside.

It would be a good idea to set up an additional fan getting fresh air into the room.

If you dont have any way of getting that hot air outside it wont work as well.
