Default Winter Greenhouse?
Does anybody have any experience with greenhouse growing? I live in a remote area with only a generator for power so indoor with heavy lighting and electricity would be problematic and expensive. It does get fairly cold here, I might have snow on the ground maybe a week out of the whole winter. I have done successful outdoor grows but would like to keep going in the winter. Any ideas or links would be appreciated.

Without artificial lighting, the light cycles will be all wrong. I know some people grow 12/12 from seed but with the onset of winter you'll get even less hours than that; assuming you can overcome the cold problem that is. All you can really do is prepare for next years grow, build a womery, get in supplies and such which should be on offer now.

For the record, I envy your off grid living. My advice would be to make sure you make the most of the next growing season to keep you in smoke over winter.

Assuming you have the light issues sorted.

Keeping your ground warm longer is more efficient than trying to warm the air in the greenhouse during the freezing nights.

Some ideas to think about:
- If you dont have the kilowatts spare to run heating wire around the soil area, try growing in pots placed on planks of wood to insulate them from the freezing ground.
- If you have a wetback woodburner that is used as a central heating system you could extend it out to a water radiator in your greenhouse (assuming its not miles from your house, or similar to the way pipes are placed under the floor of your house using the wetback woodburner to warm your floors.
- Keeping your greenhouse full will help keep it warm (a bit like sleeping in a tent, empty tents get cold quick)
