To someone who is knowledgeable about lighting times

I'm not understanding what the best possible light/no light times should be for the plants I will be growing from sprouting to adulthood. For instance when I should use 12/12, 8/16, or whatever. If somebody could explain as simply as possible it would be much appreciated.

for veg growth cycle

Blue Light..... CFL MH 18-24 hours (i use 18 6 )

flower hps cfl if you had to 12/12

You mean it's the same if they're just sprouting or adults? CFL works better than UV? And where do I find a timer that can automatically shut it on and off? Because I work 10 hour days and I'm not home enough to do it manually

Learn to love the FAQ. Your question is answered there, but I'll cover it here for your convenience.

Cannabis has two growth modes; vegetative and flowering.

When the plant is receiving 18 to 24 hours light per day, it is in vegetative mode. The plant gains height, forms branches, etc. It's up to the grower whether to use 18/6 or 24/0. I use 24/0 on my mothers and clones.

When the plant is receiving 12 hours light and 12 hours dark, it will flower, producing buds.

If lights are on between 12 and 18 hours per day, cannabis will produce some odd in-between modes growth, such as webbed fan leaves or fan leaves with only one blade on a single leaf stalk. This 'in between' phase is of no use to the grower.

It's easy; pick 18/6 or 24/0 (your choice) for veg & clone and then use 12/12 for flowering.

Yes; the plants are grown in veg mode until they are ready to be flowered.

A seedling must grow to sexual maturity before its sex can be determined, about 6 weeks. Once it is determined that a plant is female, it can be flowered or cuttings can be taken to produce more plants (clones).

if your light is grounded (three prong) then you need to get a timer that is also grounded. if you use a non grounded timer for say? a thousie and have an adapter, you could fry your ballast. if the light is grounded so should the timer...

If you can buy a new timer that does not have a grounding pin, I would be very surprised. I haven't seen a timer without a grounding pin since the late 1970s.
