Default Metal Halide VRS CFL vegging

so im going to be setting up a 2 room grow op in my appartment shortly after moving in and ive decided for sure on dual 400 watt high pressure sodium bulbs in the flowering room but in the vegging room where i plan on keeping a few mother plants and growing the clones and vegging them to 18-22 inches before moving into the flowering room i have the choice between fluorescent tube bulbs or a 400 watt metal halide

pros to CFL--- Much less energy usage, greater control

pros to MH--- Heard it helps them veg faster and creates a bushier cola and midsection which results in more buds in flowering?

    discuss and post opinions

ps option of combination of the two? im off to and sleep hope to find something here in the morning, thanks in advance guys/girls

If you have the MH go with that, if you can use CFLs and the MH do that, if you use enough CFLs to put out the same lumens as the MH you wont be saving much on energy costs.

    Metal halides in a room.

CFLs come into their own in limited spaces since they give off less heat per watts and can be placed closer to the plants than MHs or HPSs can be. i.e. grow boxes, closets, etc, the CFLs work very efficiently in those circumstances.

The other place where the CFLs work well is for all over top to bottom lighting. You can tuck those little 23-42 watt compacts in all around your plant bases to get light to those lower buds.

However I would use metal halides to veg for any room size area that can handle the heat has headroom to hang the lights.

That should work out pretty good.
