I currently have 14 plants flowering and another 14 vegging (trying to let these go for awhile see what effects it has). Anyways my question is with all i did as far as paying attention to details I spaced out drainage entirely. It is no big deal for the plants still vegging they are due another transplant into there final home (5 gallon buckets) so these i can still take care of. My problem is the 14 in the 5 gallon buckets have terrible drainage aside from the holes i cut into the bucket all i did was fill the bucket with soil (not very good soil either but that is another subject). I take readings from my moisture meter and all are off the scale wet towards the bottoms at the top they are fine. Finally my question. Is there anything i can do to fix this problem as i stand I am not sure i want to transplant them again but if it is advised i will. I now know i should have added either sand or gravel or something at the bottom of my buckets to aid in drainage.

If the drainage is that bad I would transplant one more time just to fix the problem before it becomes something like root rot and then you can't fix it.

go to wallyworld and get a 3.8 cuf bale of peat moss and two or three bags of perlite you can find it all in the garden section. you must pull your plants up very carefully if you just transplanted it should be easy to do then take about 1/2 of the soil out your buckets and replace with a mix of the perlite and the peat moss. then put your ganja back in the buckets and your problem should be solved

Drill some holes as close to the bottom as you can around the side.Don't water as much. Why did you put them in 5 gallon buckets? Are these all mothers? VV

alright will do didnt really want to transplant again but i also do not want root rot I am a drywaller therefore I have hundreds of 5 gallon buckets and figured they would work fine I have drilled many holes in the buckets I just think the soil (which is shit anyways) does not allow for drainage thanks for the quick responses . I will let you know how this next transplant works out. Root rot does not sound like something i want to have to deal with.

Root rot is basically the same thing as damping off. Damping-off is controlled primarily through good sanitation, high quality planting material, and proper cultural and environmental controls. Damping-off is worse when soil is wet or compacted. So adding some perilite to your soil as well as about a 1/4 inch of gravel of the bottom of the pot will make a huge difference.
