im thinking of doing this instead of the 1 -1000watt oldschool ballast the area is less than 5x5. is this not the thing to do cuz of uneveness of light. even if they are side by side covering such a small area?????

that is optimal, because you get the benefits of both spectrums... your gonna gets some big stickys

thats the best you could hope for in that amount of space especially. good luck they should grow like..........well like weeds.. any pics of the set up?

I have try those setup, the best thing with that is to rotate le lamp each days for give all colors to the plants. Now i prefer to use an hybrid lamp for use only 1 ballasts and don't have to move everything each days. You can buy and USHIO HYBRYD LAMPS, it's a 1000w that fit in existent 1000w ballast but inside the lamp bulb you have a 600w hps and a 400w mh under the same hood, the best mixture...This is the link for the lamp on the manufacturer website...http://www.ushio.com/products/horticulture/hiluxgro.htm
