Default Swamp Cooler Yes or No
I am considering getting a swamp cooler for my room. Not for the actual grow room, but for the room the grow room is in. The temp's are too high in the room, causing of course the grow room to get too warm. Today it was 95deg. at the max in the grow room.

I know that swamp coolers increase humidity, but right now my humidity is @ 30% and it hasn't gone over 35%. I live in a warm dry climate and don't have much issue with too much humidity, just too much heat. Do you think it would be wise to get a portable swamp cooler to try to cool the room to lower the intake temps?

How much increase in humidity do you think I might get from a swamp cooler? They are just so much cheaper to purchase AND to run than an A/C unit.

i have one in my house. they get pretty humid. even though it's in the outside room you would still most likely need a dehumidifier in your grow room. they make portable cooler that are lower humidity but the watt usage is a lot.

Did you end up installing it? Because I also live in a hot/dry place and am thinking about installing one directly in my room. My humidity is 16 percent and temps are at 80 in jan/feb.

Sounds good i run mine almost all day and the humidity doesn't get high at all, but if it did the exhaust fan will take care of that.

Wow a thread resurected from the dead. I actually ended up installing a portable A/C unit and found it worked much better. I was able to get my light right down on my plants without any problems, but having an appliance that sucks 1300w is kind of annoying when I was only using 250w for my light...haha.

I've changed locations and I have a better setup now with 2 400w lights and I don't need the A/C here in the winter...thank you season changes. We'll see what happens in the summer.
