Default Grow Room Heat Source Reptile Heating Pad???
hi all, well this is my first grow and i was just wondering if a reptile heating pad could be used to increase the temp in my grow room(2feet by 2feet and 4 feet high). current temps are 64F n 35% humidty.

im planning to buy the 50-60 gallon 24watt one

probelm is how do u mount these in a grow room , there designed to be mounted againest glass in terrariums and heat the glass than air temp, would it be safe just to have this sit in my grow room

from what I know about having reptiles most of the heaters are a burn hazard. I had one in a 50 gallon glass tank and next time I went to clean it out the bottom of the tank was cracked very badly. Also they are only effective with contact, think about a human heat pad. If you have ever used one it's only hot to the touch not the air surrounding it.

With reptiles lights work best to up the ambient temp you would be suprised at how much heat a 60w bulb with a reflector gives off in a inclosed space. Maybe a black or red light bulb wouldn't mess with plants I'm not sure.

I'm not growing just reading to figure out the best plan of action before diving into it. With reptiles I know my stuff. Heaters on wood can be dangerous.
