from what I know about having reptiles most of the heaters are a burn hazard. I had one in a 50 gallon glass tank and next time I went to clean it out the bottom of the tank was cracked very badly. Also they are only effective with contact, think about a human heat pad. If you have ever used one it's only hot to the touch not the air surrounding it.
With reptiles lights work best to up the ambient temp you would be suprised at how much heat a 60w bulb with a reflector gives off in a inclosed space. Maybe a black or red light bulb wouldn't mess with plants I'm not sure. I'm not growing just reading to figure out the best plan of action before diving into it. With reptiles I know my stuff. Heaters on wood can be dangerous. Infrared Ceramic Heat Emitters could be an option Big Apple Infrared Ceramic Heat Emitters for Reptiles, Amphibians & Turtles# |
